I think the best is if we settle this right after election day. If Obama wins the election and remains alive for 24 hours after he is unofficially declared by CNN to be the winner, then you lose. Otherwise you win. I don't really feel like holding on to the money until 2009 if you don't mind.

No...I meant what happens if one of the candidates croaks before the election. Too bad...you lose I guess. I have no problem with that...just don't want someone saying its a push.
Lets be clear. My position is thejdog did welch on his bet with me. The evidence is still clear.
I am only doing this because I have no other choice.
Thejdog is doing this...because he sees it as a slam dunk, and he gets to save face.
Taking a large underdog to try to collect a wager I have already won is not anything for me to cheer about. But it's better than nothing.

OK MJ, I agree he did welch at first, but from his perspective he's paying out $1100 when he originally bargained for $1000 and he's trusting a complete stranger on the internet (me) to give him back $1000 if Obama wins. Let's be honest, in his position he's got to let go of the whole amount in his mind and see it as a bonus if he gets anything back. The reality is that I'll miss my mother's funeral before running away with the money, but he can't know that.
I do see your side that it's not 100% compensation but rather a settlement that has ya looking like Fred Flintstone when he drops a bowling ball on his foot or somethng, but definitely not in yabba dabba doo mode.
