Nelson is very good player, not the same athlete you find in a BCS conference, but can shoot the rock.

I don't know if they win, but would not suprise me one bit.

Agree totally on portland state, xavier is way over seeded IMO....also dont be surprised if cleveland state beats wake. This game really reminds me alot of the siena/vandy game last year. Wake is not playing good ball right now either. Also, I believe Western kentucky beats Illinois by double figures.

I agree on all of these.

this was the first upset that came to mind

cornell over mizzou as well. dale will handle the mizzou press and they have the personnel to make them pay from 3 for pressing
Cornell is in for a very rude awakening against the Tigers. The athletic talent gap between these two teams is huge. Cornell has not played a team even close to Missouri. The pressure and speed will be way too much for them. Missouri easily in this game. :dancefool

no kidding.....the Mizzou line is too small, IMO.

I agree... I like Portland State to pull the upset, but I'm drooling even more over the +11.0.

They've only lost 2 games this year by more points... lost once to Weber St. (the class of their conference) by 14 and lost at Baylor by 13 (Baylor was ranked at the time). As has already been noted, they won at Gonzaga and nearly won at Washington (they hit a last second "worthless" 3-ball to cut the deficit to 1, but even a 4 point loss at Washington would've been a very quality showing). Jon Brockman, the Huskies best forward, sat out that game with a bum ankle, but either way you size it up it was a solid performance.

I also like how the Vikings have a slight regional advantage by playing in Idaho. I highly doubt Xavier will pack the house in Idaho. Should be a fairly balanced/neutral crowd and I think if Portland State can shoot 38+% from deep they'll have a good chance of winning outright.

Ya but Xmen have been playing well lately.

Xavier lost 5 of their last 10 games. They beat Dayton at home and beat St. Joseph's on the road during that stretch... 2 quality wins... but by no means have they been playing well lately. They also lost to Charlotte, Duquesne, and Richmond during that stretch.

It's possible of course that if Xavier is clicking on all cylinders and Portland State has an off shooting night that Xavier could potentially win by 12+ points... but I just feel that all things considered Portland State +11.0 is one of the best value plays of the first round. :103631605

i watched cornell play syracuse at the dome where they led at half. this was also without their point guard, and best players Louis Dale. Cornell is a good team, who can shoot it better than anyone. that alone is enough to give Mizzou a nice scare if they aren't on top of their game. Cornell has sneaky athletic ability.

I liked the short little white kid who drove the lane and threw up the prayer got fouled and kissed it off the glass. One of the best plays of the tourney.

Portland was off their game tonight. It happens. You were right they had the talent to pull of the upset if they played very well, and Xavier was slightly off. Just didn't happen tonight. It's too bad that you can't have a loser without getting a bunch of little kids jumping down your throat.

Action,

You had good reasons for your picks and went for a shot on a live dog. It just didn't work out. Keep the picks coming!

nice call.

You're a prick, you know it? You do this everytime some one has a loser. Where are all of your f...ckiing winners ? Do this to someone else and I'm gonna see to it you're escorted out of here. Action is a long time poster here, with a lot of class and doesn't deserve your ridicule.^^:) BBB
