I think the problem here is people are basing their decision on how this one game played out. You have a range with Denver winning by 30 going all the way to the other side with Carolina winning by 30 with all the other outcomes in between. The reality is that you never truly know where it will fall, but it will almost always land within that range.
Yesterday just happened to be Denver's day. They played tremendous defense, but their offense was incredibly putrid. I think a realistic assessment would be a 5-5 split with a 6-4 lean for Carolina.
The question posed here (no offense to OP) has little validity, IMO. This is primarily b/c the teams are somewhat even so if you played several series of "10 games" you'd likely have 6-4, 5-5, 4-6 outcomes as your predominant results.
I think this question holds more weight when you consider the 49ers/Chargers. And the discussion would center around 10-0 and 9-1.
But this is neither here nor there. The main thing that struck me was how a guy 6'6", 250 lbs doesn't dive on the ball with the Superbowl on the line. That was amazing.
