Middle of the week. A few guys who do this for a living told me that wednesday during football season is their slowest day, I think that is tuesday for myself. I put in a few hours each morning during these days going thru a routine where I jot down plays from different sources on the net that I respect in CFB and then I try to find a good line by scannng thru my dozen or so offshore accounts. I pass unless I get a better than average number on these. I am always trying to time the market so to speak. This is not easy and I probably dont give myself enough credit for this but it is somewhat the goal. I always want to look back at a game see if I got the best number, if I didnt I usually pissed about it. I basically try getting orgainzied early in week and picking up as many +ev type plays/numbers hopefully. I usually go out just in the afternoon on these days and hit a few books for a few hours around town and see if anything stands out. I am home by 6 every night where I look for steam plays and also look again offshore for prices on games that I have written down. This is a typical middle of the week gambling day for me.
Thursday's and friday's are spent going out on a set route to some contests at certain books around town, I add in a few extra books that are close by these to fill in the time. I usually hit it for a few hours in the morning and a few hours mid-afternoon. I always carry 2 different sheets with me. One sheet has the updated Pinnacle lines on it. I will never take a price worse than the Pinny line. A few guys I know around town also preach that, you will be a loser overalll if you dont at least get a better line than Pinny and that isnt always easy. I will also fire away at any number that is off a Pinnacle number by a certain amount even if I had no idea I would bet the game, the ole "pinny lean" philosophy. Though this can be risky early in the week and I dont do as much as I thought I would be. The other sheet I carry is of teams that I have been looking for at certain prices all week and havent found yet. Most of the time these plays are made at home. Fridays nights I work on a project I will go further into detail about later. It usually takes me about 3 hours to do this. So far I am down about $600 doing this project but i think it will be worth my time.
I would say 50% of my plays for the week in CFB come from early week stuff. On game day I do some other things like follow steam, fade some stuff that crosses a key number and hits a new number 1st time all week, bet 2nd halfs, maybe some corralated parlays, etc.. With NFL 75% of my plays are before gameday. Most of my gameday stuff is just 2nd halfs and smaller prop stuff. I do cap a lot of my own NFL stuff and try and hit these as soon as the openers come out because there just doesnt seem to be much mid week line movement but this can be risky.
Weekends I have mainly sat home and worked my stuff on the computer. Saturday is an all day adventure for me. With games starting at 9am I am up and working this at around 7am, I actually get up every day at 7am so it's not that big of a deal. The good thing is most of it is done by 8pm at night. I went out for a little bit on Saturday but it seemed to not be worth it. Having a line serivce up all day saturday is great and I dont want to be to far from that during this time. Sunday mornings havent been as stressfull as saturdays so far with line movement for me. In fact they have been slower than i imagined. I have made sure to be around my computer around 5pm sundays for the NFL openers where I have been able to get pretty good numbers the past few weeks.
On mondays I try and do the stuff I have free time to do outside of gambling. Just your basic stuff. Throw in all day hitting the RX and a few other forums, walking the dogs and just researching other stuff and it usually makes for a busier day then I thought. I am not complaining but I am saying the days go way faster than I thought they would. I feel I get so much more done here at night when it gets dark. It's hard to explain but I seem to be in a better groove. I think a lot of that has to do with me still having that east coast mentality and feeling like I am always 3 hours behind everyone else. At night when it is 8pm here, it is 11pm on the east coast and now I feel like I have finally caught up to everyone I think.
This is basically how I have done it for the first few weeks here betting wise. Just a brief description of what seems to be a typical week. There is a lot more minor stuff like movey money around, running some errands, etc.. It seems to be working out faily well so far. I may even drop the mid week going to in town sportsbooks as I am not sure they are worth the time. It has been a little less running around then I imagned but football is a once a week sport more or less. A lot of this will change when hoops start up. I plan on slowly getting out of a lot of my offshore accounts now that the good bonuses are pretty much gone and doing a lot more stuff in town with hoops, where an extra half point can be way more important. Most of this stuff is hit and miss and I am changing it every week. I have learned a lot just exchanging ideas with other locals espcially over the net, thank god for that. It all boils down to managing my time the best. Hitting the most books in the fastest amount of time so i get down the most +ev amount of plays I can find.
