I hear that exact staement about the poker players almost every few days from all sorts of different people.

I really dont have the time. You are right though the time to clean up is the night time but I dont really want to be there in the middle of the night. I like to be home and doing the things I like too do. That is the one thing I am going to have to make a decision on when that time comes.

So what are you waiting for TRS? You would love this place. Beats the Wolverine state (though I do miss the fall weather and the month of October in Michigan).

Very crazy indeed. No vegas for me yet just starting out. Did you read any books to get the knowledge you have now on sports betting? If so, which ones? I just picked up beat the sport books by Dan Gordon.

I am not sure it is that much knowledge. Mostly read forums but I do have a ton of books also but most everything in them is date. Basically hard work and common sense like anything else.

This Pittsburgh game is a perfect example of why the number is the most important thing.

I have Baltimore +7 that I bet almost the minute it came out last week and I am sitting in a no lose situation now. Evn if Pittsburgh wins this game by a TD in overtime I will win my bet as they dont kick the extra point. This is so huge in the big scope of things.

You dont realize it but these few wins instead of losses and pushes seperate the winners from the losers in betting.

Ice I have a morgage that I would lose my ass on if I had to sell. Also I will be playing lots of poker in the future. I think I have about 2-3 weeks tops at my job. I will be getting unemployment and be playing at the casinos downtown.

Since the wife still has a career here and she loves Michigan as do I. I need to have some good fishing wherever I live.

I just hate waiting around wondering when the ax is coming.

Mortgage thing no excuse, you can rent to others.

You love Michigan? I thought you hated Michigan. My bad.

Me and my GF both say all the time that it still feels like we are in Michigan. I guess it is what you make of it. I think in a weird way most places are the same, if that makes sense.

The weather is different though. If I was an outdoorsmen I would hate Vegas. One funny thing about here is I have still never seen roadkill yet. You cant go 100 yards in Mihcigan without seeing something dead on the side of the road.

Kermit,
At this time of the year what is minimum odds you take on a team to win the SB? Also how many teams willyou have going for you throughout a NFL season. Just curious. Thanks.
Good question because there isn't an easy answer. I like to take a few stabs on teams that I think have a chance long before the season starts. I have some 85/1 on the Bills and 55/1 on Denver. The 55/1 on Denver is really not looking that good because their defense is pathetic so far. After 4 games do you feel you have some insight into who can or cannot win a SB ? You and I are both Math Geeks of sorts so first off it is fairly easy at this point of the season to figure out who can't win a SB. Yes sadly your Lions are one of the teams that I would eliminate. ! LOL Next I would work on the teams that could win a SB but too many obstacles to put any $$ on them. Next I try at this point of the season to work on all the teams that could win a SB and I wouldn't be flabbergasted. I have narrowed my list down to about 10 teams. With that being said I think I would jump at any odds on any of those 10 teams if the odds are anywhere in the 30/1 range. Of course if the team was one of the 10 teams that I like best, 10/1 might be attractive. I'm not going to list my favorites as everyone on this forum would have their own 10 favorites and I don't want to start up that kind of chatter in your thread. Another thread perhaps in NFL Football but not until after my Napa Valley wine tasting trip ! LOL:toast:

very good question. I do get up EVERYDAY at 7am as I feel rushed and backed up as I am a true east coaster. Heck you have too on the weekends. I am on and off the computer all day and make usually 1-2 trips to the casinos.

I use numerous ways to go about picking my plays, from following proven guys on forums (which has done really well), trends, steam and my own numbers,etc.. I have an on going list on me at alll times. I line shop and try and focus on beating the closing line, which I have been able to do better than I have in the past with my whole day devoted to betting. This is my philosophy and the key to winning at sports betting, beat the closing number. I mean that is a simple way to put it but it remains my #1 focus and it is what I try to do.

I do my best work when it gets dark for some odd reason. I am still having a hard time with the whole west coast time thing. I see 8pm here and I think there are a ton of games going on when in reality everything is started and some nights they are all done. Anyways I am putting in way more thasn 8 hours a day but I am not really sure how you measure that. I honestly did not walk away for a whole day this month so I guess I never took a day off but that is fine also as I am feeling alive and as excitied as when I first started.

ICE-- Hows the college foots going for you so far this year?

Once again I want to thank everyone for the kind words and support. It motivates me to hear others throw out they like reading this, etc.. Thanks again.

I bet a Minnestoa Vikings 50-1 future to win the SB at the Plaza hotel. It's not that I like them but 50-1 was a great price and the fact they have played a very hard schedule so far and play in the weak NFC north gives them a good shot to win the division, then just maybe they can get hot in the playoffs. The funny thing is I hated them in August when everyone else was all over them. They do have some talent on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Bottom line I think there is a ton of value at 50-1, all the other places had them 30-1 or less. I am looking for someone in the AFC as I think that conference is wide open. It's still a longshot but I think it warrants a small play at 50-1.

One thing I am really proud of myself about is not betting for the sake of betting, showing discipline. Now I bet a lot of stuff and always if I find a great line, no matter what the sport, etc. Tonites CFB I couldnt find anything so I walked away. I am proud of myself for that. So this is only the second time since September 1st I didnt have a play for the day.

I went swimming yesterday. It was probably the first time I have went in almost 20 years. We have a communitity pool in our neighborhood so I figured I would give it a go. I actually enjoyed it. I woke up a tad sore today, not happy about that but it was something I expected.

As I walking back home from the pool I started to think how happy I am right now to be here doing something I love. My old man has always told me " that life is about piece of mind." It's still way too early in the game to know if this was the right move but overall I am very happy I came out here to try and do this and most importantly to me is that I am here working for myself. There is no better feeling to me then knowing it's on my shoulders and I will be rewarded (or punished) based on how well I do my job.

Also wanted to added something i have been using that Sports Savant told me a about,. It's a software program called roboform. Basically it allows you to go to your sportsbook of choice and when you do it sends you right to the book and logs you in instantly. I have had it a few days and I love it. I highly reccommend it to anyone with books that time out or some one that uses more than 1 book at a time. I havent really scratched the surface with this thing and I already love it and cant imagine what I did before I had it.
