I am telling you blocked and returned for a TD is extremely rare. you dont forgo a 60% chance or so of winning over obscure worries and make the weak call to punt and try and hold a 6 point lead. That would be very poor coaching. A coaches job is to give his team the best possible chance to win.
Im sure NC State would have much preffered getting a punt instead of FSU taking probably a 60% or so chance to end the game. I think Gano was 3/4 on FG over 50 before that kick and FSU has not had a kick blocked all year.
