I think this is a great idea. No reason I should have 50 pounds of someone else's fat hanging over my seat that I paid for. I always feel like they owe me money since part of them rode in my seat the whole way home.

This is just one more great motivation for the fat asses who would rather eat McDonalds then go to the gym.

OK here we go. In High School I was 6' 2" 240lbs with a 38" waist. Is that fat? Kepp in mind I was real solid I could bench over 300lbs. Should I have paid extra then?

Now as a fat as 270lber I understand the situation but if I am sitting next to my 5' 7" 135# daught and we lift the rail so we basically share the seat should I sti have to pay more?

As usual there is a lot of gray area.

How would you like the job of ass-measurer? Could you see the line of perverted chubby-chasers trying to get hired on? Or would they have a cut out like they have for kids at the amusement park? Instead of you must be this tall to enter this ride, it would say if your ass is bigger than this you must pay for a double seat.

Obese air passenger in economy seat has picture taken

An image of an obese passenger squeezed into an economy airline seat has reopened a debate about how airlines deal with growing numbers of oversized passengers.

The picture, posted on an aviation blog, was reportedly taken by a flight attendant to illustrate to airline managers the difficulty of dealing with passengers who cannot fit into seats.
It is unclear if the man was aware his picture was being taken or whether the flight, on US carrier American Airlines, took off with the passenger spilling out of his seat.
<!-- BEFORE ACI --> Airlines already offer extended seatbelts to larger passengers to comply with safety rules but a number of carriers now insist obese customers buy an extra seat.
US domestic no-frills airline Southwest has a “customer of size” policy that insists passengers who cannot lower both armrests buy a second ticket which is reimbursed if the flight is not full.
American Airlines does not have such a requirement but urges passengers to “recognize ahead of time that they may need to purchase two seats”.

Southwests policy seems fair: US domestic no-frills airline Southwest has a “customer of size” policy that insists passengers who cannot lower both armrests buy a second ticket which is reimbursed if the flight is not full.
