Unreal. Kind of a boring story unless it's your car. Anyway I first called the Sheriff's office when I noticed it was gone. Aftet giving them the VIN they tell me the City Police Department had my car towed. Huh? I say why would the city police department tow my car?? She tells me to contact them as she knows nothing else. When I call the city police they confirm it was towed and it was called in by a private citizen to be towed. Huh? At this point I am getting a little irate. Please don't make me believe a citizen called in and made them tow my car from my own front yard?? How can a private citizen have my car towed!!! Even the city police department knows nothing else about it except to give me the number to the people who towed it. I'm thinking why would one of the neighbor's or a private citizen have my car towed?? What they have told me doesn't make sense....
I call the towing company and they tell me the rest of the story. The manager of a restaurant called the police for a possible stolen car. My car was left with the engine running and air conditioner blowing full blast for the last 5 hours at this guys place of business. When they looked closer they could see it was a stolen car from the ignition laying on the floormats. The tow truck driver even told me the windows were soaking wet when he opened the door from the car sitting so long with the AC on. Anyway he said he told the police it was obviously a stolen car when he got there but they said they couldn't do anything as no one had reported it stolen. Heck I didn't even know the car was gone at this point!
Anyway my neighbor took me up to get the car, cost me $129 smackers. Unreal how they did it. They punched a hole under the lock on the passenger side and used a screw driver to open the door. Don't ask me how but the officer who came out said they do it all the time. They then gutted the ignition stuff and used a screw driver to crank the car. They even smoked a blunt while driving around!! Case is closed I guess. Other than some damage there is nothing else to worry about. I could tell the officer wasn't going to even try and catch anyone but at least I have my case number that I needed. What a pain in the butt! I don't know how Beantown did it but he fixed me good.
