I hope Covers, and SBR, and Statfox, amongst others have deep pockets because they are about to take a big hit with all the sports event shutdowns. Same goes for many in, and servicing the sportsgambling industry.

Corona virus could further thin the sportsgambling herd.

Sure hope TheRX is not a casualty.

I know a lot of people that play DFS that saw DK is public now and just bought. Just figured sports betting is legal so they will keep growing.

But I've always had a bit of a golden rule that I don't want to invest in companies that such a big part of their business model is just staying in the good graces of governments.

They're getting exclusive licenses now but what happens in 5 years when the state wants to make a little more bang for its buck and allows more and more operators to enter the space. New Hampshire, DK is the only mobile provider in the state, GL w/ keeping that monopoly in place as govts get starved for more easy ways to get revenue.

Especially places like NJ/PA, where they kill it.

If people wanna have a piece of the house it is cool and they won't get killed or anything, but I do think that is what will likely happen.

DK/FD have done a great job, but nothing they really do is proprietary.

Two things:

1) The curtain has been pulled back in regards to sports betting. There is no return and DK is huge.

2) I'm looking at one year not five. DEAC is really low right now and will go lower because of the current sports market. Hit hit now. Late summer it will return.

Yeah, on a short horizon I think it could be fine. DK obviously made some good friends at state houses over the years and it helped them move in. They also had the tech ready to go from DFS which helped create a huge lead.

But I don't see it being some multi-bagger tech unicorn story really. I just think the PAs/NJs/etc of the world will start handing those licenses out like candy in a few years when they wanna make more $. Maybe it will get there either way though.

It is DEACU fwiw

My portfolio reads DEAC but whatever.

If I'm not mistaken Pats, books in NJ have to be connected to a racetrack so that would limit the options to get a license no?

I guess it is another symbol the holding company has for it, the people I know bought DEACU. The differences are very minor.

No clue exactly how licensing will go for those states (something like New Hampshire having a monopoly just jumps out) but I wouldn't trust state governments w/ debt issues not to issue more licenses. More of an overall view of their long-term biz prospects.
