Canada's per capita debt is higher than the US. Now that our social programs are in obvious jeopardy, especially in light of the fact that our military will be given consideration in the next budget, this debt is coming to haunt us.

I understand the points you're making, but you have to remember the interest payments that must be made by the feds to their creditors. That's what's killing us.
