I copied what Reno posted today about this place. If this is true, I find it disturbing and wrong. I think this is the same Reno who used to post at MW. Can someone Please answer a few questions that posters have a right to know.

1-Is Reno telling the truth or is he lying?

2-Do you pay posters to post?

3-Did Rob Funk get hired here when The General was the head mod or did it happen after he left?

4-Why would Buzz Daly right this?

Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.

I am the reno of Offshorebettor.com and can confirm your suspicions. Its THERX who has been paying former Offshorebettor members to post at their site. Evidently, they felt they needed some active posters to stir the pot and came to my place to grab a few.

I was curious when I noticed a couple of regular posters, who had been at OSB for close to 4 years, all of a sudden gone. Some of these people would make 5-10 posts daily so it was unusual that they fell off the face of the earth. I sent some emails out to make sure everything was okay. No response. People at OSB were wondering what happened when someone shot me an email and said, I noticed Rob Funk is posting at THERX. So I emailed Rob and didnt hear back. I found an old email with Rob's number so I called him. To his credit, he said he was sorry but he was not allowed to post at Offshorebettor anymore as he was now being paid by THERX to post his opinions at that site. He said that they even offered to make him a monitor, because he was online so much. At least he came clean, though I was sorry to see him go. Since then several other posters have left for that site, presumably for the fool's gold at the end of the rainbow offered by THERX.

People leave forums for different reasons and I respect that. While I have always tried to be fair and there always is alot of good info at the site, I do ban bashers/troublemakers at OSB.

I am all for capitalism, but one has to wonder how objective posts can be when a person is paid for them. Its certainly raises an eyebrow if not an alarm for the future of these forums.

If your hypothesis were true then moderators would never dis
advertising books or promote non advertisers, yet they do.

RobFunk first started posting here in April of 2002 (a couple of months before I did) and I asked him to become a moderator last June, over three years after his first post here and he is under no restrictions whatsoever as to where he may post at besides here at The Rx...

I beleive RobFunk posted at Reno's site from around 1999 until 2002 (posted earlier today when this came up in Rx. Board Room) but will let him tell you for sure. I think he will be online later as he works late shift here...Maybe someone can find out when was Rob's actual last post at the Offshorebettor.com was...I don't know of any other posters from that site posting or moderating here. In fact today is the first time I have ever heard of the site (that I recall).

Pyro, generally mod jobs are offered to veteran posters that show some kind of aptitude for posting/writing and interacting with other posters. However there are no set rules regarding this. I have quite a list of candidates who have asked to be considered next time The Rx. hires a moderator..I don't think we will be adding any new mods until football and am not really sure if then for sure.

Personally I don't have anything against a paid poster if that poster is beneficial for the overall posting body and the forum itself. I guess another example of a poster who is paid by The Rx. is Wild Bill who is a writer here at the Rx and also a poster. I have no idea what his deal is with Rx. eiditor Charlie Maxwell is but he is not being paid to post on the forums.

Anyway, I know this subject has become part of the new interforum drama that tends to escalate from time to time - who is paying who yada yada yada..

I don't think that is the same Reno as MW.

Once I came over here, I became loyal to it. Especially since a certain capper helped me have a great run I really needed.

Reno of OSB is a good guy and I wish him the best. The place just was'nt for me anymore.

I stopped posting at one site and came to another. There is no foul play going on. I was loyal to TheRx LONG before I became a moderator. 3 years, I think. Moderating and my changing prefrences to site favorites have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

rob,
thanks for taking the time in your schedule to reply. But, one striking difference in what some employees here say like Dante and what reno says bothers me. Reno says when he called you that you told him since you were being paid by therx, you couldn't post on his site any more.
So which is it? Dante can post at other sites but Rob Funk can't? Isn't that a double standard?

wil,
was kojak payed to post here before he became a moderator here? thank you much for your time

No, there were never any restrictions put on me. I may have mis- spoke. I just choose not to post anywhere else gambling related. Very very infrequent, I might. But that is about it.
