NES way to go. That dog has gotta be happy as hell and grateful.

I wouldn't say he's the ugliest dog, since that chinese rat looking thing is the ugliest but he's up there :).

He looks super healthy compared to the first pics though. You should consider giving him Omega 3 for his hair, there is also shampoo that can help with the hair growth.

Thats a cool dog. You can see a lot of improvement in the pictures. I've been wanting to get a dog down here but if I went back home I wouldn't be able to leave with out the dog. I condider my dog like part of the family. Does any one know what the laws are about bringing a dog you got in Costa Rica back to the states

bringing a dog from here to the US has two problems

a) the actual transportation, in this , Continental is your best bet, hopefully you would end up somewhere near to Houston or at least a route served by a mainline flight for CO (you know a big plane, I 'think' that smaller planes do not carry pets but you would have to check ...)

anyway

b) http://foreignborn.com/visas_imm/entering_us/2bringyourpet.htm , a vet knows how to do all the paperwork stuff

Big thanks to RomanKandle and again to Barman for helping with Jable's treatment.

These pics are already five days old, but you can see that his hair is almost all grown in already and he is happy as a lark.

so Jables officially has a home now, and is permently out of the cage. My wife says he is going nuts, now its time to start obedience training as he has been exposed to too many strangers during his time at the vet's office.

Hey Nes. Positive reinforcement. It really works. Might take a few weeks. But he should learn pretty quickly.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I have faith in him as well. I plan on picking up some treats for him tomorrow to get the ball rolling.

How much you guys think I should be feeding this guy? Im currently giving him 3 cups of food 3 times a day, but everytime he eats like he is starving to death.

Also any recommendation on how to get a dog to scare the shit out of people from coming into my yard or considering doing anything stupid?

Get a friend who understands Photoshop.

Morph a photo of Jables standing over some dismembered human bodies.

Blow up the pic to poster size, frame it and hang it by your gate.

Some pics from the last couple of days, he is looking much better, within a month his hair should be completely grown back in.

my two cents

this dog has history, he may not necessarily have it 'in him' to be an aggresive dog....dogs that have had bad experiences sometimes never recover (I have one that has been with me for 5 years and she is barely at the stage where she thinks 'ok this sob is not going to beat the shit out of me........')

what will probably happen is that once the dog gets used to his new house he will become territorial on its own and defend it, unless the dog is a pitbull/rottweiler/german shepherd or similar I would supose that the best use of a dog is as an 'alarm' rather than a nica eater.

He's looking good. That is great that you were able to help him out! Hope things continue to go well.

I have a couple rescue dogs myself. They were in good shape when we adopted them, but they hadn't had it easy and need homes.

It's amazing the difference 29 days can make in an animals life. Hate to keep tooting my own horn here but I still cant believe that I had any part in such in amazing transformation in this dogs appearence and quality of life.
