hypothetical murder weapon disposal

Not that I would ever kill anyone in cold blood, but let's say:

I murdered someone with my 1911 .45 ACP pistol by several shots to the torso and head with jacketed hollow-point rounds. I tried to pick up all my spent brass, but it's possible I missed one or two casings. Let's ingore motive, witnesses, and other shit ans focus soley on the ballistics.

I safely make it to my residence/safehouse, and detail strip my weapon. I run a sharp file through the lands and groves of the barrel, remove and file/mar the bushing, extractor, ejector, slide stop, recoil spring, hammer, spring guide, and firing pin. I set those parts in a pot of warm salt water while I remove the magazine floorplate and mar it, cut up the mag spring, mar the feed lips and dent the magazine tube. After I set those parts in the warm salt water, I clean the frame and slide, and rebuild the pistol using replacement parts I bought at a local gun show for cash (new barrel, extractor, bushing, ejector, slide stop, firing pin, hammer, and a virgin magazine). I later safeky drop the marred/rusted parts into a local body of water.

If the cops confiscate my .45, will they be able to link my weapon to the slugs/casings found at the crime scene? Obviously, I never reported the weapon stolen or lost.

I doubt anyone will answer, but just curious if anyone can answer.

Hypothetically speaking if someone was to kill someone with said gun i dont think they would go to any of that trouble they would just throw the entire gun in the water discussed. If you want to get caught do what you said.

Did you wear gloves while loading your weapon?

If they can't link you to the crime using your weapon, they'll be able to link you based on this thread. :103631605

Obviously, I'm not going to murder anyone, and if I was, I wouldn't post about it on a stupid degen gam forum. Just thinking: a "lost" or "stolen" 45 that matches the cal at the scene is suspect. I live in IL, so the ISP has a record of me legally owning a 1911 .45. If they recover the marred parts from the body of water, could they match them to the casings/bullets at the crime scene if they find the marred/destroyed extracor, ejector, barrel, bushing, et al from the waater?

But when they test the weapon they find at my house with the new parts installed, they couldn't match it, right?

of course, no prints were left behind and everything was wiped clean before thrown in the water.

Damn, no serious answers. Figures.

If you use different parts the serial numbers won't match. I just checked my Glock 21 and the barrel has the serial number on it.

If the cops know for sure you did it they will falsify the evidence and ballistic reports to make sure you fry.
