primarily college? I have no real clue and would like to begin understanding how to do so rather than following others. I was previously using power rankings but could never really do much better than around 50%.

Are there good books/articles/etc out there to build a foundation?

thx for any info.

If you want to do it on your own, recommend following only 1-2 conferences VERY CLOSELY(preferably minor ones) and watch as many of these teams play on TV as possible.

This is just ONE way where you as a handicapper can gain a very significant edge in this sport.

Perhaps the largest store on gambling of all kinds is located in Las Vegas and is called the Gamblers Book Shop. You can visit their website at:

gamblersbooks.com

You will see a toll free number where you can call and get their free catalog. If what you are looking for is not in the catalog, they are very helpful when you call and tell them the type of book you are interested in. They do have books on handicapping basketball. If you need help ask for the owner Howard Schwartz. He is very helpful if and when he is available.

Look at the lines....pick out the obvious winners .....then bet against them.

You'll cash.

Thanks for all your responses:

I bought a book some time ago from gamblers book club on NCAAF. At least gave me basic capping skills (almost purely fundamental though). From the book descriptions there didn't appear to be a lot to get excited about.

I'm resigned to think that actually watching games on a regular basis is important. And I simply do not have time to do this.

I think being a sheep in CBB is the way to go for me. Heck, right now I'm a sheep in all sports. Just gotta pick my shepherd carefully.

Thanks again.
