IMO if you take a QB and give him solid protection he will do good
Give him a good team with a solid O line and he will succeed
Obviously you have guys who are a bit better but I think the biggest difference in some of these guys is the team they are on
It is beneficial to be drafted later than earlier as the talent on your team is likely better
That is a bit of the case with all these guys

Arguably the 4 best Qbs in the league all got great starts. Coincidence?
Brady on a SB eligible type team after Bledsoe gets hurt

KC was already playoff bound and in the run for a title with Smith. Add a little bit more talented QB and bam

Rodgers sat behind Favre a year and took over a very good team

Wilson rook over as a rookie for an up and coming team beating out the guy that got from free agency to start a run
We saw they already had their D and run game in place

While this isn't rookie related...
I remember back in 91 when an average QB in Mark Rypien played for a talented Redskins team and had a elite year. No coincidence he was only sacked 7 times that year
He had 3 good receivers and a solid running back that year
Pretty much all he did in his career was that 1 year
Couple decent years before as Redskins were good those years

'Brady on a SB eligible type team after Bledsoe gets hurt"

This team was nowhere near SB eilgible when Brady took over. They finished 8-8 in 1999, 5-11 in 2000 (Belichick's first year as the head coach) and we're 0-2 when Brady got his first start. NO ONE was talking about the Patriots as a playoff team two weeks into the 2001 season. No one.

They were on the start of their improvement
That year 11 of 16 games they let up 17 or less on defense
7 of those 13 or less
Just because the year before they werent great doesn't mean the pieces were not in place

They won with a conservative approach relying on Brady to just make plays at key moments with a real good D

I agree that every QB would look great with a good OL and receivers. The difference is the guy that succeeds without any talent around him. Brady and Rodgers both have been on very bad teams and carried the team. Now this year Brady is loaded with weapons, so is Mahomes. They shouldn't fail. It's tough to get a read on how well a QB plays when he stacked with talent.

I agree. But the point is how many rookies have played on very bad teams with horrible O lines that the team gave up on. High drafted guys that may have not gotten a good shot
How many young guys have been expected to be good drafted onto a good team played so bad and couldn't win with a good team?
One thing to develop with a solid team or at least put up numbers with a good O line and offense so that when the team as a whole develops you are still there
But on a bad team you may not put up numbers or win and just get cut so you never have the chance with a good team

And neither Brady nor Rodgers had bad teams
May not have had SB teams but they were never bad

A lot of difference, you ain’t playing at a high level for 15-20 years without being much better than the baseline

The point you are looking for is how many guys bust because they came into bad situations, obviously some, some would suck either way

But I’d say Andy Reid could turn anyone around w/ talent into a star QB, he would’ve done it before his 20th year coaching obviously. Finding the guys to mold ain’t easy.

Is this really a serious question?

Is the OP familiar with this sport called American Football?

LOL.

Again, no one was talking about the Patriots and how they were one QB away from a super bowl team in 2001. They lost 19 of their previous 26 games before Brady got his first start.

The O/U on the Patriots win total for 2001 was 6.5.
