Rational thinkers are wise starting sometime in your 60s to have a sensibly prepared Exit Strategy in the event of terminal illness.

A peaceful and pain-free suicide costs at most a couple hundred bucks for the right pharmaceutical cocktail and that's far smarter than letting you and your family's finances be ravaged for hundreds of thousands, or even millions of dollars in vain efforts to extend life an extra six to 12 months.

Just sayin'

I agree. Many will not because of religious reasons.

I'm 49
And if I were using just the interest on a million invested and if I could rely on 10% annual, then that's only about $70K

I like your suggestion of a million at age 55, but would want to have perpetual revenues of at least $100K per year on top of that.

Where can you get 10% annual on a Million?

That was an utterly random percentage I grabbed out of the air. If a fair percentage is smaller than that, then my intended point in that post would be magnified.

I'm not familiar with what would be a more believable percentage in today's economy.

I do know there's been times in my adult life when one could get 10% return on investments of significant size, though it would be in vehicles other than a bank of course.

The more money you have the MORE opportunities are offered to you. Many doors open to those with 7 figures that the masses have NO FKN IDEA about.

I am not in that class, however I do own a salon, and many secrets are spilled in there, lol,

it takes money to make money, and 10% may be a bit optomistic, but 7% with almost NO risk is out there all day long,

Completely false. Show me 7% earnings with no risk. Assume you have 10 million to work with.

You're a moron.

There are PLENTY of muni funds that have returned an effective 7% for years.

So, in conclusion, you're a moron.

a fairly nice house in the Trucker/Donner pass area or near Tilaran(or near a clean river in Costa Rica) and a secure job would be more than enough to make me comfortable, I have no dilusions of grandeur.

Who is the moron? Yeah looking back they did very well. Not the case in the past year nor is it the case for the immediate future. You stated that it was almost no risk which is completely false. There is more risk now than there ever was before.

You are talking out of your ass.

Do you have any idea what a muni fund even is?

Do you have any idea what an effective rate is?

So, in conclusion, you're a moron.

Paranoid moron, I am not giving you a lesson in finance today. Nothing is nearly risk free.
