how long do laptop batteries last on average?

keep getting this little pop up saying although the battery is operating its nearing the end of its useable life.

just bought this thing around this time last year too.

how much do these things usally cost and where can they be obtained?

It varies greatly-on both counts. They can last 1 hour, or up to 4 (generally the max). They can also run from $100 or less to (get this....) $500.
