The guy is a shill for the Ben Zobrist fan club......

LOL. j/k. I like the guy a lot too.
He's a friend of a friend. I don't know him, but I know he's a good guy. Very humble. I'm pulling for him, and it's fun to check the box score everyday.

And he does have about the hottest bat in MLB right now.

Zobrist a great example of why it's a good idea for fans to wait before making snap judgements on the value of a trade.

He was picked up two seasons ago in a "dump" of longtime Ray Aubrey Huff. During past two years, as Rays were below average offensively - especially at DH slot - a bit of local chat pondered whether this had been a good deal or not.

Zobrist past 111 games (equal to 2/3 of a season)

.274 in 336 AB

23 doubles
5 triples
23 HRs

(that's 51 extra base hits in 336....very very strong)

59 R
63 RBI
9 SB

The Jackson trade was terrible. Joyce is awful. Not sure how you can trade Jackson and keep Sonnanstine.

Check back in about 15 months when Joyce has become a more regular part of the Rays lineup.

But we already have some decent indicators. He has 35 extra base hits in just 268 ML atbats. Few teams have more than a couple players that deliver at that pace

The reason the Rays dealt Jackson is because that's who the Tigers wanted to move Joyce.

As of Friday, Zorilla now at 3.1 pa per game and thus qualifies to be AL's leader in both SLG% and OPS

For MLB, he's second only to Al Pujols

I don't know how you leave the slugging percentage leader and OPS leader and 2nd best OBP player that hits .300 off the All-Star team. Especially since he's played all over the field and only has a couple errors. It will be interesting to see if he gets in.

Zobrist extension is 3 years 18 mil with a 7 mil club option for the 4th year and 7.5 for the 5th year.

Not bad for a kid from Eureka, IL.

Is Zobrist gonna make the All-Star team again? You have to put him on, don't you?
