How does WV Coach still have a job?

It's ridiculous to say anything other than this guy is hopelessly over his head. Throw out the clock management in the 4th, the sideline is a mess.

His MO is going to be delegating to his coordinators, and that's fine, but the head coach is not even on the headset or in the huddle on the deciding play of the entire game? Les Miles at LSU delegates his offense to Gary Crowton, but he's involved in those decisions and situations if nothing else to know what is going on.

As far as the offense, you should review their average yards per carry from the I-formation in the game compared to average yards in the spread. They had negative yardage from this formation in the game, and yet this is what they go to in the key play to decide the game after it had failed all 4 times previously. Now I'm willing to cut the OC some slack since it's his first year calling plays, but the head coach doesn't even bother to enter the discussion about what to do to and that's pathetic.

Here we can also review the wisdom of bringing in a new OC with different philosophy and terminology to take over a highly successful offense, especially when the entire rationale of promoting someone from the staff was continuity. Instead, the guy changes the system and they can't get score more than 14 points against a mediocre defense in a game that goes overtime.

I've seen firsthand a coach this over his head destroy a successful program, and Bill Stewart will tear this program to the ground in less than 3 years even in a weak conference. Anyone who wants the opposite side of that bet, let me know and we can discuss terms.

I watched the 4th quarter and commented on it. I don't think not seeing the first half has anything to do with commenting on clock management. Your logic? "Oh, the announcers were in disbelief! That proves it. Oh, Erin Andrews said a bunch of 18 year old kids that all scored 19 on their ACT...they were upset and confused."

Bottom line......the clock management or mismanagement didn't have a damn thing to do with the outcome. They didn't convert. Period. It was 4th down. And if they had called timeout with 15 seconds like all the geniuses like yourself wanted them to, then they would have had to punt. Coach made the right decision. Now go drink an Old Style and shut the fuck up.

The Cards are not as good as the Cubs this year. I never once said they were. Oh, well. Life does go on. Good luck to your Cubs. As for the Rams.....hate em. And go buy a clue about logic and football.

After reading the many opinions and facts presented in this thread. Do you still have anything to say Illini? no one is talking about 4th down, and 15 sec..? learn to read and watch a game. Your wrong, just get over it. how old are you? . and fitting a fan of the st. louis alcoholic cardinals tells me to go get an old style, :drink:.

Doesn't matter what anyone says. He made the right decision not calling timeout with 15 seconds left. I'll say it again.....they didn't convert. It's that simple. I also said that I would have called timeout with 35 seconds left. But that's not a black and white truth, it's a matter of opinion.

Nice to see your Cubs showed up today. Good job Z, way to "stick it up the Cardinals' asses."

He's only coached 4 games. Do you have to go undefeated to keep from getting fired in your mind?

The clock management wasn't that bad. I would've called the timeout with 35 seconds left, but had no problem with it not being called. The timeouts saved could have been crucial to kicking the field goal if they had converted a first down. After they didn't convert on 3rd down, it was probably the right move to let the clock run down and throw a hail mary. You don't want to call a timeout, get stopped, and then give CU a chance to throw one pass and kick a FG.
wow are you serious? stop defending the coach here your lookin more of an idiot than he is.........:think2:

I'm not defending the coach. I'm just saying that all the announcers were wrong, in disbelief that he didn't call timeout with 15 seconds left.

The coach will be there for a long time. They have no choice at this point. That's why he has a job. Good luck.
