Well losing a 5 cent piece in the 19th century, would be like losing a dollar today... at a minimum, it mattered.
If you found it with a metal detector, it likely has severe ED ( Environmental damage)....and you've probably attempted to clean it, and damaged it, doing so.
If the half-dime has great detail, and you haven't fucked it up already.... NCS could "conserve" it
Pm me a photo, if you desire. My opinion is free.
condition makes a big difference. My services regarding evaluating US coins are free to any RX'er I'm not great with foreign stuff, but I'd try.
I'm quite good with US stuff.

Doug, thanks for the response, especially since its hijacking your thread.
i didnt find it,,,, a customer (friend) at my store did....
im just now getting into metal detecting..
quick story (comment).....
i have another customer (friend), who owns a farm a few miles from my store..... its a common story in my area, that a Civil War Yankee camp, was on his property for almost 2 years...
a few (not many) have hunted his land and found nothing... the current owner has told me, he thinks that the story was not true........ however longtime residents (oldtimers) continually tell me that it is true and they swear on it.....
i have permission to hunt this land at any time and plan on doing so this summer.
i figured what better way to start "civil war relic hunting", than to start right at my own neighborhood, especially with such a good story to start with...
could things (artifacts) be deeper than a few novice hunters have thought, any tips on finding this camp?
i guarantee you that it hasnt been found and excavated... it would be cool to find it..

did not mean anything personal by it doug my friend. I just sort of felt that way while reading your story. Don't mean to laugh, but you sounded to funny. You would save yourself alot of headache if you get divorced before it all goes down. People only learn by pain my friend, believe me. btw my wife is 14 yrs the younger and i love it...:hump::toast:very crude, dude.
Yes, I would have an interest in the hot SD, if appropriate, she's about 22 years younger than me, if she were my age... sure...or even just not my S/D, and wanted an old guy, and I was single, for certain...that ain't the case.....but yes, I'd take a 23 yo as a G/F at 45 yo, anytime... who would not ?
