Read alot of health related material.......such as this forum.

Reading healthy material will help motivate an individual.

And thats why they play the game.

Rob is right, seeing hotties at the gym is quite a motivator.

Other ideas:
1. change up the routine (almost monthly even)
2. keep records, track your progress to see the results
3. Find a good fitness partner
4. Try the classes, easier to not cheat yourself
5. Set goals

Linetamer hits it right on the head. It also helps to have either just been dumped or single for a long time and desperate.

I think keeping motivated is take a look at yourself in the mirror today and say damn i look good or damn i hate how i look. It might not make you run off to the gym. But it might wake you up a little bit. Read a fitness magazine also. I used to work for years then stopped for like a year. Getting back into it was so hard but I was no where near how I used to be so i started off slow and accepted it and worked back up the hill. Its hard to do but I like to hit the treadmill at my gym where it has a few TVs and put on a game and put a SMALL play on the game which helps me if im not motivated that day.

As an amateur bodybuilder I have obvious reasons to keep me motivated as i want to come in next competition in the best condiditon possible. Others are what people have said.

Hot girls is def #1 overall but the biggest drive is the fact I alwasy say to myself there is someone out ther working 10x harder than me and if i slack off he has the advantage. Yeah I'm a meathead, I know it. :suomi:

I can sum up the main reason almost all of the men are going to a gym:

*****. Either lack of it or trying to keep it.

im the opposite - i get a high from exercising and when i dont go i feel lethargic and unhappy.

i do find running on treadmill bit boring but too be honest im 6-2 200 and relatively in shape - all i have to do is look at the other 30 people around me and i can keep going

also i think a huge motivator is situps - you build strong abs i think that gets you through any session

not into reading magazines but watch some tv - then i have a salad after workout

goodluck with it

Definately, people watching can be your best motivator!!! Last weekend i went to see a football game and while i was waiting for my friend, this guy was standing next to me with the worst beer belly i ever saw!!! It wasnt even really a gut!!! He had a huge pointy stomach like he had swallowed one of those road side cones or something!!!! Stuff like that gets me to thinking "what the hell was he doing when that was happening to him"

The worst are those people so fat, they actually ride in those little scooter thingies!!!!

Hands down the best way to keep me going to the gym...

out of shape gym trainers

i am amazed at my gym how out of shape the fitness trainers are. i would say each is 20-30 pounds over ideal weight.

surprises me they make a living altho ive read their profiles on the wall and each has done alot of prep work.

my point is my body would advertise my expertise to at least some extent to my customers if that was my fulltime job
