The '89 Preakness is still the best that I've seen. As good as Pat Day was, I still think Easy Goer had two very mediocre rides in the Derby and Preakness. Day got caught in traffic in the Derby, so in the Preakness he started Easy Goer early with the whip and it cost him down the stretch. That's just my opinion, but you can judge for yourselves...

But you can't dismiss the heart Sunday Silence had at the Preakness. Easy Goer took over the lead mid stretch but SS battled back.
What a rivalry. Then at the BC Classic, SS won it Easy Goer was closing at a furious pace. Another few steps and be would have nosed him.
