Michigan has really high hopes this year with the experience they have returning especially at the quarterback position. They showed their excitement about the 2003 season last week when they hammered Central Michigan 45-7. I think that excitement will spill over into this week vs. Houston and I expect another one sided affair. The Wolverines always play defense but their offense was a machine last week cranking out 615 total yards vs. the Chippewas. That´s going to be a bit much for Houston to handle. Michigan wants to start off fast, they want to make a statement and that means they must step on the neck of teams like Houston visiting the big house.
Houston got a monster blowout in their home opener with a new coach. Michigan won´t be Rice and 100,000 hostile fans will not feel like home. Houston has taken their lumps in recent years and they have some work to do yet in that program. Houston has only had consecutive point spread covers only twice in the last five years and I don´t like their chances of getting one here. I see them turning the ball over, making mistakes and hanging their heads about it all. Look for them to fall apart and for Michigan to take full advantage.
