Sometimes. But more often the irrational phobia pertains to an honest, though fairly silly belief that if homosexuals are not actively obstructed from equal legal rights in the USA then somehow our society will shrivel and fall into inexorable decay.

That and a related irrational phobia that if their (the phobes) kids are exposed to the idea that homosexuals are human beings deserving of full equality in legal rights, then the kids will somehow be harmed and/or their lives will be destroyed.

i dont like people telling me what i can or cant do. if 2 people want to be together and there guys or girls, let them have that and let the states decide it. if you let the people decide social issues, this country would be fucked up more then it is already.

Until the detractors can show me where any of the above have produced quantifiable harm to the lives of them or to their children, I can only conclude their fears about legal gay marriage have an irrational foundation, which thank goodness is curable.
