Holmes back at practice

One day after resting his sore body, Priest Holmes returned to the practice field. Coach Dick Vermeil said Holmes carried his usual workload.
“He was fine, he looked good,” Vermeil said. “He took more reps than I thought he would. We sort of let Priest control a lot of that because nobody knows how he feels better than he does. We didn't really anticipate him doing as much as he did.”
Quarterback Trent Green has no worries about Holmes' health.
“I have no doubt he'll be in there, none,” Green said. “It's not enough to keep him out. Everyone's just being smart taking care of him.”
BANGED-UP TEXANS
Priest Holmes and the Chiefs will face a banged-up Houston Texans' defensive line Sunday. The Texans have played without Pro Bowl defensive end Gary Walker in the first two games and lost nose tackle Seth Payne for the season because of a knee injury in last Sunday's loss at New Orleans.
Walker, who has an injured shoulder, said he'd like to play Sunday but probably won't start.
Terrance Martin, an undrafted rookie free agent out of North Carolina State, will replace Payne at nose tackle. The Texans also signed former Chiefs defensive tackle Steve Martin.
The loss of Payne is especially tough because he's the anchor of the Titans' 3-4 defense.
“It would be foolish of me to say that the loss of Seth Payne doesn't hurt your football team, because it does,” Texans coach Dom Capers said. “Anytime you lose an outstanding football player, they are hard to replace. You just can't go out and get a Seth Payne.”
