People just underestimate the skill aspect.

There are all kinds of ways to gain leverage in judo, muay thai, wrestling that the average person just has no clue about. Even Matt who trains regularly admits he would be at a major disavantage vs Ronda in grappling and this guy would probably kill 95% of guys, think about that.

This is actually also the reason a shitty MMA fighter could kick the ass of the biggest, toughest guys who aren't skilled in any fighting disciplines.

You might be right. Holm is 34 years old. Almost past her prime already. The only other girl that is really good atm IMO is Amanda Nunes, and she's almost 30. I really like Joanna Jedrzejczyk, but she's 115 lbs, but exciting to watch. Probably has the best stand up in women's MMA next to Holm.

Hey I thought we were talking fighting here & now we're getting off topic talking about your personal life in the bedroom...

Haha! My ole lady is no joke either man. She played D1 soccer and has tree trunks for legs. I learned quickly to hit it right! :) I guess it worked, as it's been 6.5 years and I guess here I will announce to the World that she is prego with my first child!

I think you meant to quote post #77?

Yeah no other womens sport is commercially successful. I realize cage fighting has more appeal than say softball but I just think it will fade.

Ronda says she has arthritis and there might be a lot more wear and tear on her body than people think. She was a judo prodigy at like 13 and the way they train those kids is insane.

She can probably carve out a decent niche as a C-list actor as well, similar to Gina Carano.

Mine didn't play D1 but started for her HS varsity team as Freshman and a four-year starter and tree trunks is correct for a woman who plays a lot of soccer.

Women's Tennis is pretty commercially successful.

I mean any decent male MMA fighter would kill her, but you guys are talking some dude who is a weekend warrior balling at the YMCA. It is just a bit different.

It's crazy how big the gap is with stuff like this sometimes. Some people think she could beat Mayweather, others don't think she could beat JustinCruise.

If JC is how I picture him, then I see her maybe beating the the nerdy guy. But if they put her in cage with Mattymat or you and say only one of you gets to come out alive. No doubt where I'm putting my money.

I don't like Rhonda or womens MMA much either really. Think as she fades so will the novelty of that whole thing.

UFC just needed a star badly with Lesnar/Silva/GSP gone and shot her to the moon. Good looking, well spoken, badass fighter. It was the smart move, right place, right time but I don't see this continuing to be a big deal.

Think they're hoping this Sage Northcutt guy will fit the bill here as well. I personally think they're setting him up for disaster as he's way too young, but he's selling them tickets and the teenie boppers are going crazy! Whooooooooooooooo!

What would the line be on Tate/Holm?

Tate gotta be happy Ronda lost, she wasn't beating her.

What about the loud mouthed Irish guy. He's got that star factor I think.

McGregor? He is probably the biggest male star right now besides Jones/Cormier.

One problem for him is the new IV rules means he probably won't fight at 155 anymore after the Aldo fight. His precision striking is excellent but without the same reach/physical advantages he might not be as good at 170. MMA weight gaps are big, it isn't like boxing where there is a new division every 6-7 pounds.

Guys like him are exciting and thats the style I prefer to watch, but you run into a wrestler and it just gets neutralized fast.

My money will be on Aldo. Connor is good, but I don't necessarily want my kid looking up to him, nor is he a great poster child. He only cares for himself, or those really close to him. Look at the way he treats his fighters on TUF. Worst coach ever...

It is simple...Rousey has been overrated and overhyped in a cynical money grab by UFC promoters since the beginning. Now she's faced real competition and has been exposed. Holm shrugged off her Judo without much difficulty and the striking differences, not to mention the raw strength and quickness advantage of Holm, are items Rousey won't likely be able to match. The rematch won`t be any different.

Just saw the full fight.

Rousey tried several times, but couldn't take Holms down. Twice they went to the mat, Rousey got the worst of it, and Holms just stood up. Also, Rousey had no answer for Holms jab. Just kept walking into it. As Holmes gained confidence, she started throwing combinations.

It's always nice to see an arrogant person get their ass kicked.

For those who want to see the full fight. Just google: rousey holm full fight video. I'm sure these links will be taken down at some point.

I really don't care for this fight, honestly, but it could be okay as Tate stunned Ronda on the feet as well, and has some of the best wrestling in the division. Tate posted a bunch of F bombs saying F that B when Ronda lost...

1 thing about the UFC....Fighters come and go....Even the best get beat.

Anderson Silva
Georges St-Pierre
Jon Jones
Matt Hughes
Chuck Liddell
B.J. Penn
Tito Ortiz

All of these guys took some beatings along the way.

So Meisha Tate isn't "real competition?" Also, you stated Ronda can't win a fight past 30 seconds, yet Meisha took her to Round 3, where Ronda won by armbar, of course.
