He didn't bet on his team?!?! Wow, THAT'S a relief. Not consciously, but it's easy to imagine the following scenario: Mario Soto sucked during much of the time he pitched for the Reds, and Rose bets on the first 2 games of a 3 games series that don't include him-maybe even burns out the bullpen in trying to win the series(and his bets). Then he doesn't bet game 3, that ain't betting against the Reds, but if you think that's not fooling with the integrity of the game, you're fooling yourself. Here's an even more clear cut example: Over/under on a game is 6.5, and the Reds are up 6-0 going into the 9th. The opponents load the bases, and Rose doesn't switch pitchers-he figures, he has a 6 run lead, just needs one more run, so he leaves the guy in. A grand slam ensues, and now he makes the pitching change, but the opponents rally to win 7-6. Rose would deny to the death that he threw the game, but, to some extent he did. He's scum, and is NEVER getting in, nor does he deserve to.
