we're waiting on an amended tax return we filed in May. Have you heard of people getting their return and receiving interest!

IRS charges interest on late filers now that shoe is on other foot hope same penalty applies. Their website says 4-6 weeks. Hope we see 2021 before filing 2022. Any help?

This is the norm and not the exception post pandemic. Part of the reason they need to hire tens of thousands of people, literally

4-6 weeks not happening for an amended return. Yes, they will pay you interest and it's better than you can earn at any US Bank

I will suggest you check the status every week. If their comments change from "processing" to "reviewing", you might want to try calling. Sometimes they hold returns for very simplistic reasons, but they don't reach out to let the taxpayer know.

If you're going to call them, do so at like 7 AM, your best chance to get through

Otherwise just sit back and relax :)

According to the members of the RX,

they hired tens of thousands of agents to go after the babysitter who received $800 in her PayPal account before they were fined $2,500 for posting something incorrect on their IG account.

you mean they were incorrect?

Well, there certainly will be more audits, but audits of low income people will never happen

It's all about cost / benefit

What I dislike most about audits is that they tend to be about form over substance. And I'm a substance over form kinda guy
