no it wasn't just that one factor obviously
time did that and a decade of being in the dumps and such
but it definitely aided in the reflation process to some extent
wars are inflationary by nature gives government a reason to spend money and the economy to be an active busy economy at home building bombs, building planes, and growing hemp and such
currently today the tech bubble burst ended (markets bottomed) right when we started bombing iraq and everybody was in a gloomy mood.....obviously it wasn't just that one factor and easy lending and credit bubbles also aided things.......
the big difference between now and than though is
WWII americans funded the war through their own savings and hard work via buying bonds so our skying debt/GDP ratio on the government side during that time wasn't a big issue since the bond holders were americans
while today china, japan etc.....are funding our deficit spending....so over the long haul america is up for sale to foreigners.....and americans on the private/consumer side are in debt up to their eyeballs as well.....
