I'd have him start to invest in mutual funds both in stock and muni bond funds. Let the experts take care of the money.

miamiboy you're 23? From your previous posts I had you pegged at 14.

First I'd fire you for incompetence then I would have you arrested for fiduciary abuse of the elder, but is obvious you don't have a clue.

You're a tool young man, going to a gambling forum to ask for financial advice, give me a break.

I'm glad to see that while you can apparently exchange opinions on just about everything on the RX, from politics to dealing with a divorce, from what someone thinks will be the next hot stock to who is going to win the AL East, getting advice on a situation involving a large sum of money is apparently taboo and out of bounds. I was going to post this in the Investments and Politics section, but thought that this is the most populated area of the RX, I would probably get the most diverse group of opinions here.

I was never hired by this gentlemen Razor, I am doing this as a favor, so hard to be fired, right???

I do not need to get into a war of words with you, as you are not worth my time, but if you really think that I was going to only listen to a bunch of responses from a forum more well-known for helping people lose money on sports than anything else, you sir are the tool.

Good luck shouting at the kids to get off your porch and waving your dentures at them for blasting their rap music too loud

Have him bet NBA games and have him let you hold the cash. Then tell him who you bet and make him watch the whole game. At age 60. He should have a stroke somewhere by the 1/4 of the season mark.

at that age capital preservation is far more
important than trying to make a score.
long term bonds are a no-no due to the
potential of higher interest rates and inflation.
stocks/mutual funds are bad because of the
potential for downside. preferred stocks that are
safe and pay a decent dividend are ok. my choice
would be in to invest in electronic gold and sell
options against the position. one should be
able to get a return of 1-2% per month without
losing any of the upside potential of gold if
this position is managed correctly.

:laugh::lol:

We got each other pegged.

You're grounded by the way and no more SpongeBob for the week. Clean your room, specially under the bed. All those empty Nivea lotion bottles... Why is the dog limping? He smells like Nivea give him a bath!

Darn kids and stay off my lawn!

Real estate. No brainer right now if you buy foreclosures and put the time in looking into the matter. There are deals all over the place right now.

Meeting over, end result: Guy is actually closer to 75 or so, isn't interested in investing in stocks/bonds at ALL, but IS highly motivated to buy/fix/flip properties, something that I know very little about. I put him in contact with a friend whose in real estate, and I expect to probably never hear back from him ever again.
