The worst contract in baseball history...

The Panda Bear might have something to say about that. I believe he is the first person in history to go on the DL for being fat.

Damn, he must've had a good agent. $ 1 million a year until he is 72 years old. LMAO...at the Mets.

not sure who his agent was, but pretty interesting story...I am of the belief the Mets owners were making so much money w/ Bernie Madoff they didn't care about deferring Bonillas money!

not really, just a simple annuity.... money put in market would have been better for Bobby, could be stupid in many respects.

Most athletes in their first contracts should do this with no real bills - early in life.

works like the FEDEX cup in golf-- tiger has like 100 mill or so coming to him at age 65..

Not really. The money is worth less now then if they would have payed it to him 15 years ago.
Just because he got money deferred does not make the contract worse then if they would have payed him up front

Happy Bobby Bonilla Day. Bonilla receives his 9th payment of $1,119,248.20 today from the Mets. He will receive 16 more annually on July 1, thru 2035. The 25 payments were to settle a $5.9M debt in 2000.
