It seemed like a great place. The people are really friendly and helpful. Saw some beautiful women. Everything is unbelievably inexpensive..you can get a nice apartment for around $500 a month. They have these markets where you can get all different kinds of food, the portions are huge, and it only costs like $3-5. It's different because night games in the US start like 7 am. It's amazing how honest the people are. In some places, you are expected to remove your shoes, so see a lot of Air Jordans outside the door and nobody fw them. And sometimes you see purses left out in the open on motorbikes. The only negative I found is that Chiang Ma has an air pollution issue. It can be unhealthy to breathe, and sometimes it has a sewer smell. You see some people walking around with masks like what doctors wear. Before I went, I heard stories of how bad the mosquitoes are, and how unbearably hot it got. I was there in Sept and there were no issues with mosquitoes at all. And while it was hot (around the upper 80s), it gets cool at night. Another thing that you should keep in mind is, while it is probably a good idea to get some shots before you go over there, some places will try to convince you to get hundreds of dollars worth of shots that you don't really need. That is, unless you plan to go to some remote areas. Then you might need to get more shots. Overall, a great experience.
