One of the most exhilarating moments in sports is to be there cheering on a horse who is about to win the Triple Crown. The crowd noise just gets louder and louder as the fans jump with glee as the horse goes around the track for two minutes and it becomes pretty clear that he is going to get the big prize.

Glad you got to experience that, RE. It's amplified and surrealified (?) live at the track.

I've been blessed to be at some pretty special sporting events. But they usually have electrified "moments" especially at the end of games. But at the Belmont there is two minutes to get the crowd in a frenzy. There's nothing like it. And they wait years for that elusive Triple Crown winner. So when those two minutes come....

I feel the same way at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway... Sitting in the first turn and watching those cars at those speeds head into turn one is insane. TV doesn't do it justice.. Been to the 500 race 8 times

Not into car racing ('cept when I drive!) but I get the analogy and I think it's a good one.

Those people are crazy too, right? They must be hootin' and hollerin' big time as that race gets going.

You probably don't need to be into car racing , and I'm not an avid fan by any means , but the event itself will send chills up your back walking into that place , even before the race even begins...I did a motor home trip with friends out there one year to enjoy the festivities. Makes Mardi Gras look liker a kiddy party.. Neighborhoods in all directions lined with motorhomes , street parties, the whole 9 yards .. Just a crazy scene.
