El Jefe,
Guanacaste is a great place to visit. There are many different beaches to try out. Depending if you are coming alone or with family or friends makes a big difference which beach you should go to. Jazz Sports has 3 Casinos on 3 different beaches in Guanacaste. Send me an email Harvey@JazzSports.com or call 888-632-8890 and ask for me and we might be able to set you up at one of the hotels with Casino Rates. The Casinos are Flamingo Beach Resort, Tamarindo Diria and the Paradisus Playa Conchal formally the Melia Conchal. Check out or web site for more information on each hotel.

Judge,
During the low season 3 of 4 casinos make a little money and the one that loses is close to breaking even, so during low season all 4 casinos make very little money combined. High season is another story, all casinos make good money. The fact that we can bring down agents and their players makes the biggest difference. Gambling, Girls, Golf and Fishing are all a big attractions for the gringos.

I'm going to chime in now. There's enough reasons to come down here and VISIT for a week or two, see the sights and so forth. However, other than tax "deference" and easy young ladies, there's no reason to LIVE here.

Come and visit for 7 days, then leave. Don't live here. The momentum of the sub-mediocre culture will overcome any intentions of goodwill and friendliness that foreigners may bring to this little kleptomaniac society. It's not even really a country....more like a large gang. Find some other place to find yourself. Costa Rica's best days are in the past, and it's high-water mark is there for everyone to see (August, 2001). R.I.P.

See you in Nicaragua. In Nicaragua, you can get a condo on the beach for $20k that costs $200k in CR. Nicaragua is just as safe (or unsafe) as CR. A lot of ex-pats are migrating there because there's still value left. There is no value for your dollars in CR anymore. If you think you'll live cheaply in CR you will be disappointed.

Amer,I hear some very good things about Nicaragua. But I love it here.Chips to each thier own.Amer, real estate is dropping somewhat here. You have to look around for deals and then make an offer.Maybe soon buying a house which i think is a good value.Took some negotiating though.

If you're looking to buy, there are going to be some great opportunities coming up, especially in higher-end houses. I'm seeing properties in Rohrmoser that were asking 300k before now available for 180's. There simply aren't enough buyers for these high prices any more. Good luck with it. If I could stand living here at all, I'd be ready to go all in about 12 months from now. There are fire sales already appearing and not many takers. Your best opportunities are always found in bad economic times. The key is to be prepared to act when opportunity knocks.

If you think Nicaragua is politically stable then you are not likely to have 1/16th of a brain

You may find beach condos in Colombia too

Btw if you are going to Nicaragua make sure you contribute to both parties political campaigns, that gives you a title and then later on you can use it when they want to take away your property, consider it a "safety" tax

wolfie...Thanks for the advice, but I was speaking for discussion sake. I'm definately not going to Nicaragua or any other Latin American dump. It's the culture I'm getting away from.

ok point taken

are you done whinning? if yes great if not can you open a separate thread so that I dont have to run into your comments like "It's not even really a country" when the thread is suposely about Guanacaste/places to see/visit?

I don't mind reading your childish comments (hey thats the beauty of the internet, you can show your "inteligence" to millions) but at least put them under a title I can recognize so I get any surprises, it gets old for the people that lives in the dump to hear you complaining all day long.......
