Agree 100% amazing how FEW theyre is that hate tiger yet he can stay out this year and next but still be number one. Also, he has brought to th game what noone else has brought such as publicity! Kids use to play shit like lacrosse or soccer, 5 years or more ago they stopped and played golf! Tiger respects everyone before him, why not respect his game!

How is golf not a real sport? There are sports beyond the four major ones in case you didn't know. Golf is actually probably more played than baseball. Growing up in Canada to be honest not many people liked baseball. Most pick up golf once they get into college or later, but if you didn't play baseball growing up chances are you won't just pick it up and become a fan.
I love baseball, but golf is just as much a sport and nobody has ever dominated baseball the way Tiger dominates golf. And if you've ever tried playing both like I have, you'd know golf is a much harder sport to play.

An athlete runs, or throws, or uses speed and agility in a team oriented setting. He may be strong for his endeavor, but what sort of athletic moves has he shown? Hell even the 2 Nat'l Geographic centerfolds can run and show endurance. This is a great tourny in spite of all the doom and gloom beforehand!!

And Manny Ramirez can just hit a baseball, Peyton Manning can just throw a football, Kobe Bryant can just shoot a basketball and Alexander Ovechkin can just shoot a hockey puck. Just because you don't respect hitting a golf ball as much as you respect the talents I listed doesn't make it any less of a sport, and it doesn't mean the greatest golfers don't belong in the conversation of the greatest athlete. Tiger can probably bench press more than 90% of all MLB, NFL, NHL and NBA players. I have no idea how fast the guy can run, but he is in great shape because it is tiring walking up and down a golf coarse for 5 hours a day, 4 straight days in the blazing heat. Hitting a golf ball well is harder than shooting a basketball, throwing a football, shooting a puck or hitting a baseball. I've done all and golf is by far the hardest.
I'm not saying that without a doubt Tiger Woods is the greatest athlete of all time because it is all a matter of opinion, but to dismiss any athlete outside of the four major sports is ridiculous IMO.
I would agree that it goes beyond the 4 majors sports, Tennis, Soccer and Cricket, Rugby, and numerous olympic sports need to be included.
The reason I disagree with Golf being a sport, is because they hit a ball walk take a 3 to 4 min break. That does not diminish Tiger's skill, but so many athletes that play hoops or football or baseball have been dual sport stars on the High School level and were awarded scholarships to play others sports in college.
With the exception a few baseball players, no sports allow you to be physically out of shape. There are no John Daly's in Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Tennis, Ruby, and Swimming.
