Pepperdine (5-9) vs Utah (10-3) 9pm Pac
ESPN's nightcap for Big Monday has generated a split in opinion for many cappers. Pepperdine backers point to their athleticism, and Utah's disastrous start. Utes fans go for the disciplined team at home. While the spread is large this game boils down to one factor.

THIS IS THE BIGGEST COACHING MISMATCH OF THE YEAR!
Rick Majerus is by all accounts a top 5 coach in the country and some put him in the top slot. He continually gets the max out of his players and always has the Utes playing a solid, disciplined, team game. After a slow start this year, getting blown out by superior competition in the preseason NIT, the Utes have been solid and appear to be a contender in the Mountain West. Big man Tim Frost seems to have shaken early season back problems, and Aussie freshman Andrew Bogut looks to be one of the country's top diaper dandies. Nick Jacobsen provides the punch from the outside. Utah has been deadly at home, running off a 5-0 record this year.
Pepperdine is a ship adrift at sea right now. Westphal, of NBA fame, seems content to roll out the ball and let his players play. The Waves have no semblance of a taem game and have been repeatedly blown out by superior competition. Pepp. was whitewashed 91-65 by a mediocre Colorado State team last time out. Westphal seems more content to work on his tan in Malibu, than on his team's game. I have never seen a more disinterested coach in college hoops in all my years. Pepperdine has also been ravaged by the injury bug and academic woes for the third consecutive year.
The spread is rather large (14) for a game featuring a patient, methodical offense in the Utes. But this is a game Utah should carve up the impatient Waves and blow them out of the building.
Let me say one more time:
THIS IS THE BIGGEST COACHING MISMATCH ALL YEAR!
For that reason, being just one reason among many, Green will lean to Utah to win in a blowout.
GL YTD : 1-1
