Tulane (+18.5) over BYU **

I've gone back and forth with this game this week. So this is a small play for me. My initial thoughts are BYU big. But this is about as good of a situational spot for Tulane as you can get. BYU coming off a HUGE emotional win over OU as +22 point dogs, then having to go on the road again the next week as -18 point favorites. On top of that this is a sandwich game for BYU between OU and Florida State. And on the other end Tulane will be in their comfort zone in the dome for the second straight week. So the stars line up pretty well for Tulane here. After watching thier game with Tulsa last week I came away thinking that Tulane could have scored more points. Because of offensive miscues they left a couple potential TD's and a FG off the board, or else they might have covered that 14 point line. I look for this team to be much sharper in this second week when most teams improve the most. And Tulane looks like they are more eligible to improve than BYU. Plus BYU doesn't have as high of an octane offense that Tulsa threw at them. So it makes almost 3 TD's look a little better here. A chancy play against a possible BCS buster. But I see this scenerio several times a year. And the dog comes out covering in most of these types of sitautional spots..

I have mad respect for you GoSooners and all of the residents of BarrySwitzerland, I watched that same game you did and my conclution was and still is ..Tulane sucks I think BYU is going to steam roll Tulane , thouse almost TD and FG are not going to convert to points when they step up in class to a BYU

do you remember during the summer when i said the best thing for you to have a relaxing football season would be for Oklahoma to go 8-4 and play in the Alamo bowl..?? hope you take it the best way possible...

good luck this week

I can definitely relax now with OU. They just went from Pasadena to Shreveport all in one week.

On the bright side, there's better food in Shreveport.
You got that right. I used to go to Louisiana Downs at least a couple times a year. Never could go down there without eating some Jambalaya over rice and crawfish boil with beer bread. A couple more losses by a OU and I can start booking my trip now. Yum yum

GoSooners, been looking at the Texas Tech game all week and your write-up probably just talked me into it. Leach always likes to throw big numbers up and make a big statement.

echampion, I have a buddy at Central Florida and he says they are just absolutely awful. I will be looking at the Southern Miss game as well. Might be worth making sure Southern Miss is at full strength. I know Ole Miss' team has been devastated by the flu (read that 28 players missed practice yesterday). Hopefully, Southern isn't facing a similar situation.

I live in Orlando, and know the AD Keith Tribble....that being said, UCF is abysmal. They were last ranked offensive team in the nation last year... this year isn't looking much better. If they take Calabrese out, and let Wake transfer Hodges play @ QB, they should be better. But, unless So. Miss's entire team gets explosive diarrhea pre-game, and UCF gets roided up, this shouldn't be close....

So Miss should have this covered in the 1st half.

I hope your right. SM looks to have the most complete team in the CUSA. Although Tulsa will also have a say about it.

I don't know..I haven't been there since the early 90's.

I grew up not far from the Texas-Louisiana border. When I was in high school the drinking age in Louisiana was still 18. We'd make the drive to Shreveport then back to East Texas in a state I'd never, ever drive in today.

But when you're 18 you're immortal and nothing bad could ever happen.

Everytime I went down there it was in July or August. The weather was almost unbearable. They called it 90/90 weather. 90 degrees with 90 percent humidity. It was so hot that I saw at least one horse pass out after a race eveytime I went to La Downs. The track officials would always have the water hoses ready to hose them down. Pretty brutal if your a horse having to run one of those route races...I can't remember the places that we use to eat at down there. A friend of mine that I went with knew the area well. Seems like we went in to Bossier City a couple times to eat.

like all your plays thus far GS

Don't have a play on So. Miss as I think we are a little short on value and this isn't the best of spots. Having said that they clearly have a match up edge which is hard to be ignored. Did some rare write ups this week, check it out. Have a good one bud

VOR...I'll check out your thread. I'm pretty confident of Southern Miss although this may not be the best spot for them. I think at home they are at least 2 TD's better than every team in the CUSA but Tulsa, Houston and East Carolina. They'll be looking to get off to a good start here since UCF is in their same division.

Bet...44 was the key number it crossed. I actually saw this number yesterday and early today at 43. I wished I had waited myself. I really don't like it where it stands now. Hopefully it will come back to you. GL
