Virginia at Georgia Tech...This has been a tale of two seasons for Virginia. After getting blown out by USC, Duke and UCONN, they've won their last 3 games...But let's take a closer look at their wins..All of the games they won were (1) played at home and (2) bad situational spots for the opposing teams. Maryland was coming off a big win at Clemson. And then playing in their second straight road game.. East Carolina was a non-BCS team going on the road after coming off a very disappointing loss as double digit favorites over Houston. And North Carolina was coming off a big close emotional win over Notre Dame. And had just lost their best offensive player to injury. Virginia's wins all came in good spots against teams in bad spots....On the other side Ga Tech scored a huge win last week under the most adverse conditions, against a team who had just lost their coach, and playing in a very hostile fired up enviornment of Clemson. This team showed me alot in beating Clemson..They lost their lead late in the game, and then came back in the closing minutes to win it. This tells me something about the backbone of this team and coach Johnson..One of the best coaches in the America..I also like the fact that this GT team can win as favorites..They were 7 point favorites earlier this season against Miss St. and 13 point faves against Duke, and easily covered both games..Defense is the name of the game..And GT plays some of the best in the ACC. And then there's that option offense that is so hard to defense..Virginia hasn't seen anything like it this year..What I see is a young team going on the road against the best defense that they've seen this year other than USC. And trying to defend an offense that is averaging 32 ppg against division 1 competetion at home..Virginia has almost identical numbers on offense and defense (actually a little worse) as the Duke team that lost 27-0 to GT at home two weeks ago. And that Duke team had much more overall experience than the Cavs. I can see a similar score here..I also like the fact that the line hasn't moved off of the original number..And this has been the case in almost all of my Best Bets this year. Which makes me feel even better about this play. It's the less obvious games that always look the best to me.. Taking Ga Tech (-12) over Virginia **** (Best Bet)
Peerman is good..But he's going to find the yards very tough to come by against this GT defensive front. The best by far that Virginia has faced this season in conference. When they stop the run it's going to put the game on Vera's shoulders. This is where I think Virginia gets in trouble on the road..Ga Tech is now ranked..But they've been the favorites with the lines in their last 3 games, including on the road at Clemson..I actually think we're getting good value here..My numbers have Ga Tech favored by 16.74...Good luckValid points. One thing to consider is that Al Groh's teams have a tendency to start the season slow and get stronger late. Cedric Peerman, I believe, did not play when Virginia lost to Duke and UConn. The QB, Vera, has substantially improved and Virginia is not the same team. I like Paul Johnson a lot too. Triple Option can lead to some big plays, but also some turnovers. It is a lot of points. Have to respectively disagree with you on this one. This is a tough spot for GT. For the first time, they are ranked and no longer under the radar. I see a very close game that will be fought tooth and nail.

Dizzle...I always like it when we're on the same side...BOL this weekend.:toast:Of ALL the Games on the board, we both made Gerogia Tech our strongest play. That can only mean one thing..........Money in the Bank. I caught this game Early, and have been suprised some of the other guys on here have not really talked about it.
Win or lose, there is more value in this game than any other on the board I think. But I have shown those reasons. Anyway, just stopped by too see what you were looking at this week and saw our Best Bets were the same.
Lets cash, Dizzle
Plays so far:
Texas-OSU (UNDER 71) **
Missouri (-22) over Colorado **
Kansas (-1) over Texas Tech *
Nebraska (-11) over Baylor **
Ga Tech (-12) over Virginia **** (Best Bet)
Purdue (PK) over Minnesota ***
Rutgers (+9.5) over Pitt **
Tulane (-2) over Rice **
Thanks Wormy...Something else about this game...Even though GT is 6-1, they still have to win this game to become bowl eligible because they've played two FCS teams this year..So besides this being a Homecoming week, they'll have some extra incentive to win this game..And Virginia is coming off a hard fought overtime game and now hitting the road for the first time in a month..A good situational angle as well as a technical angle....BOL this weekend.:toast:GoSooners, really like your GT play. Their "D" is what's really impressive, which should easily stuff whatever Virginia has to offer. And you are absolutely right about line movement.
I hope we all cash on this great play. BOL this weekend.
Yeah, I meant to mention the Notre Dame game they have next week. Pitt is starting to play well, which is why this isn't a big play..But I like playing on teams with good fundamentals who play good defense. And Rutgers isn't making any mistakes and beating themselves..Which gives them a decent chance here.GS,
Great write-ups once again. you are such an asset to this sight. Keep up the great work.
I love the Rutgers play. Schiano will have his squad ready, and like usual just when you think (the stach) has his team ready and playing good, he throws up a shit game plan. Pitt also has ND @ ND next week. They will be looking ahead to that game.
Also like your call on Purdue. I think Minny is simply overrated.
BOL, my friend

This is really a big game for Kansas because they can't afford to lose to Tech when they also have Texas coming to town in a couple weeks..You have to protect your home field if you want to win your division..So this is a must-win because I don't see Kansas beating Texas. BOL:toast:Bol my friend & hope all is well ........I have already posted KU in another forum as one of my plays ......gl on the rest of your card ....your as solid as they come over here .
KC...I've watched this GT team play 3 times this year...And I can tell you that there is nothing I like more in a team than one who plays great funamental football in every phase of the game. And then has a tough attitute on top of that..Their defense really impresses me..They've only allowed 6 TD's scored on them all year. And they are especially tough at home..I also like their +5 turnover margin compare to Virginia's -3. Johnson is a great coach..I've probably made more money on his running dog teams at Navy more than about any other team in the last few years...BOL this weekend.:toast:Sooner-
I like GT as well. I coach HS football up here and I have incorporated many of Paul Johnsons schemes(blocking/running the option) Only difference is I run the Midline(freeze) more than the off tackle play-You cant use the exact blocking techniques becuse you cant use cut blocks like college can. One of his coaches(Monken) who coaches the wing backs has been up in these parts and give great lectures on the Zone read/give.
Johnson has been using this offence since his days at Goergia Southenr and has been very successful-I know this doesnt bring any substance to the capping part but I figured I would share.
BTW HS football up here doesnt come close to what you guys have down there.
GL this weekend and I am riding GT with you.
Take care bro-
