Having had the displeasure of being able to watch that Boise game on TV, I can say that was one of the more frustrating games. Both Boise and the refs just kept HANDING them opportunities to score, and S Miss would either go 3 and out or drive into Boise territory and turn the ball over or get stopped on 4th down. A lot of crazy shit went down, including not a point in the second half..
I know, I was watching the game simulation on the Game Channel from the Yahoo scoreboard..it was frustrating just watching that..I can imagine how it would have been going to the game..You could have gone home at the half and you wouldn't have missed a thing. You win a few and lose a few with these running doggies..But in the end Boise didn't have too many more yards rushing than Southern Miss. I think it ended up about 170-125..

It seems like I remember a game in about '89 where Oklahoma won handily without ATTEMPTING a pass.
The last of the good old wishbone days I'm sure...Talking about running dogs, Texas won the rushing battle today..The team in this series who has won the rushing battle has won the game the last 11 years in a row..Texas averaged about 200 yards a game rushing to OU's 178 coming into this game. But in the end it really wasn't close..I think OU ended up with only 46 yards rushing ...That's not going to get it done..OU needs to do something with their run game..We also lost our best linebacker and team leader Ryan Reynolds for the season...So it was bad news for the Sooners all around today.

Texas did a good job of sticking with the run just enough through the first three quarters until it finally became effective in the tail end of the game. And once Texas took that first lead the OU running game pretty much came to an end, both because they had to continue matching the Horns score for score in quicktime and because the Longhorn run defense has been a strong point this season.

That was one of the best Texas/OU games I can recall. Both teams were impressive.

It doesn't get any easier for Texas for the rest of the season. They've got a tough stretch from here on.

I Had A Bad One Too

3 W, 5 L. Friggen SMiss 1 TD, was all we needed. Oh well been a great yr up to now, and will be again. The gm that really surprised me the most, was the way Neb. stayed w/TT. Also think OSU is stronger on BOTH sides of the ball than any tm in the B12, including Tx. Best running game IMO. If they get Pettigrew back and Bryant can stay upright, be tough to beat here on out. Tough games tho @ Tx & TT, and OU is far from out of it. HOW BOUT those GG!!!

GoSooners, I'm not going to look up the thread, but on Sunday night we both agreed that Ok St would give Missouri fits. Why the change of heart during the week? Your initial gut-feeling is usually right! Good Luck

Yep...That was my initial reaction with Mizzou coming off of the Nebraska game. But the more I looked at the game, I thought the Mizzou O-Line was a big mismatch for the OSU D-Line. And OSU was without Pettigrew..I thought it would be too much to overcome..And face it BP, OSU doesn't win or cover these kinds of primetime road games very often. Lot's of funny things happened yesterday that went off form..It reminded me alot of last season, which was just crazy.

I don't think I'm overreacting, but this OSU team is different. It's the first time in many years they actually have some depth where it matters. They had been preparing for this game for months. Sure enough we will see a clunker, but there attitude is so much better than years past, it's scary. The departure of Fedora and Reid is huge! Good Luck

Oky State and Boise State

Post mortem on these 2 particular plays reveal that they played out pretty much like I thought they would.

I tried to convey an alternative view on these 2 plays, but was chastised and jumped on for doing so. I don't like to see people lose money to the books. I was just trying to help. Won't do it again, because people here get bent out of shape over it.

Like I said, that's why they call this "gambling." Someone has to win, someone has to lose. No one can hit 100%.

Good luck this coming weekend. :toast:

OSU is definitely playing with a different swagger this year..Their offense is scary good. Even without Pettigrew. But it also didn't hurt that that Gundy has DC Beckman, who is one of the best in the business. OSU did a very good job of cutting off the short passing lanes for Mizzou and keeping the plays inside the tackles...Much like what OU did to Mizzou last season. If the rest of these teams start using this blueprint, Mizzou may have a very tough time this year..Mizzou uses much of the same schemes as Urban Meyer's Utah offense at fforida. But even many of the SEC defenses are starting to wise up to this offense and defend it better. And something OSU has that nobody else in the conference seems to have right now is a running game. Which makes this team dangerous. BP, having said all of this, if I get a good line I may play against OSU this week when they play Baylor..This is a classic sandwich/letdown spot between Mizzou and Texas next week. I also get the feeling that OU is going to take out their frustrations on Kansas this week.

I didn't agree with GS's S. Miss pick either, but that is the point of this place if you ask me. I respect GS very much as a sharp capper but it is impossible for everybody to know and see everything. I put a post in this thread about page 4 or 5 saying that I didn't think S. Miss would cover. I did that for one specific reason, if I could, I would try and help GS if he hadn't already played the game. There are a few dicks on this site but, I want to see everybody win. I was under the assumption that the RX was a place where we all pooled our thoughts and info to help each other. I don't think I have yet to play any of GS's picks but I enjoy his write ups and to see the angles he takes on games. It makes me a better capper. I followed S. Miss the past few weeks and I thought I had a good feel for the team and I wanted to pass that on to GS and the rest of you. We are all risking our hard earned dollars at this. I don't know what the deal is with basket case, I don't think he was trying to be a dick and rub it in his face but, I didn't read the entire thread. I will state my case, I come to help wherever I can and try and learn what I can. I won't always agree with GS and I will say so but that doesn't mean I don't respect his ability as a capper.
