New York and Charlotte went under the total yesterday to move the record to 21-7.
Today's lines are now avaiable @Olympic and the play #29 is : Houston @ Detroit un 138.
First off all, I don't give a whole lot of weight to hth matchups in non conference games, especially if it is the first one of the season like this one today. However, these two teams did combine for only 101 pts when they met last time up.
Houston's last 7 games vs Eastern teams went under the total, and Detroit hasn't faced a Western Conference opponent in almost a month (9 games exactly).
Houston is 5-0 under the total in last 5 games where they met the opponent for the first time of the season ( 123.6 ), and Detroit's last 4 of this type went under the total as well(127.8).
Both teams seem to be playing low scoring games with short rest or no rest, and both teams are in that situation today.
Houston plays w/o rest, and their third game in four days, and they are 3-1 under without rest this season. They are also 4-1 under the total if both them and the opponent play on 0-1 days of rest. Finally they are 5-1 under when travelling on short rest.
Detroit, on the other side, has a 5-3 under record on one day of rest and 6-1 under if both them and their opponent play on short rest (0-1). The under also prevailed in their last 5 games when they played on short rest in home comming games.
Finally, both teams played some up tempo teams in their previous games and I hope that their energy level is a little bit down due to these games.
Detroit lost their previous game to Washington, and WNBA teams playing off a loss to Washington are now 6-0 under the total, averaging 115.6 pts. This makes some sense because all these teams lost their games to Washington playing up tempo <run and gun> basketball, and they all focused on defense after that game.
Houston beat Indy last night, and that's another team that can score in bunches when well prepared. The WNBA teams are now 9-2 under the total when playing on short rest (0-1) after playing against Indiana.
The total for this game stands at 138 right now, and I expected it to be a few points lower, so I will bite and take the under here.
Good luck to all of us.
Love ya,
Your G.P.Don
