They're way overpriced bottle openers. Shit, I'll make you one of these in a matter or minutes and for a 1/3 of the asking price.

but, wtf isn't overpriced in the wedding game. I'm the same as your FIL JC, I said if I ever got married to screw a wedding, give me a down payment for another vacation house we all can enjoy forever...

A buddy of mine is a mexican immigrant and has three girls. I tell him I feel bad for him all the time because that is three weddings and three quinceanera's.

His oldest daughter is just now turning 15 and he has spent $25,000 on the quinceanera

He will end up spending 75k on those plus 50k per wedding he says. He's looking at $225,000 for 6 parties that last a few hours each.

I don't think $35 for an engraved bottle opener like these is too much. The guys I gave mine to loved them.

Just seems a little strange to me, giving someone a 50 cal bullet with their name on it?

I guess it depends on your groomsmen. If they are military, gun guys, or maybe hunters or something.

Guy founded the company with his wife in Arizona. Think he's an ex Navy Seal. Things have been a success so far.

I'm not knocking it, just not for me or my friends

But I agree that it is no where near over priced. If you're only spending 35 bucks on a groomsman gift you're doing fine. I paid for all 6 of my guys tuxes and that was about $200 a piece if I remember correctly

That's $35-40 per opener.

Everything associated with a wedding is overpriced, these included. Are they somewhat cool, yea, but $10-15 is more
appropriate for an item like this. Personally, I'd never carry one no matter the price or gift, and I love guns and .50 cals.

Yeah, and like BAS said I think the guy went on Shark Tank with these and they got a good response.

If I understand the story correctly he just made a few on a whim, tinkering around and guys in his circle really dug 'em. more guys asked for one then....you know how it goes. Entrepreneur out of nowhere, blind squirrel locates a nut...the fact that he's a Veteran was a great added facet to the story of course.

They get a reaction. When whipped out to open a bottle.

I'd imagine, as said within this thread, that this reaction is more positive amongst certain guys and it might not be a good thing for everyone but the Backstory + the fact that these are kinda "the rage" right now for such things....groomsmen gifts, made it a must-consider, for this.

Quincineara's are fucking ridiculous. I've had many friends, associates who've faced this inescapable tradition and the whole thing is effin absurd. Its literally as described before here, mandatory parties in the ballpark expense-wise with what some spend on weddings and if you're Mexican you have to have these things, to a large degree anyways.

In some rare cases you can wriggle out but even then there is some level of loss of face....sad daughter(s)....

Quincineara's are crazyasfuck, especially the ones where the family resides in a ghetto part of town. Could be a really popular reality show...

Mexican Ghetto Quinces.

Yep, the "ex Navy Seal" is definitely the selling ticket. I can make this thing for less than $2 and a few minutes of my time. And just as thought, a quick search reveals sellers of these for less than half of what the navy seal wants for his....

Dig, yeah...He had a damn good run with them and will continue to do well for those that demand the "authentic" and original...

I'm with you though on the I'd personally not carry one myself camp....that just my own feeling on them, I understand why guys would find them interesting.

I also did monogrammed flasks, filled with everyone's liquor of choice. Fun gift to give cause it comes in handy during that long day.

Getting hitched and wondering what would be a good gift for a groomsmen. Right now thinking of getting some nice wallets from Bosca with their initials monogrammed on them.

What do y'all think would be a good gift?
Bosca money clips are great
