U may be "Russed" on this play though
2 things struck me about this game....and the reason i do this after a loss is i view this as a marathon, certain mistakes i want to avoid ever making again. I knew iw as going against keuchel and on fire underpriced astros. They are a first place team and yet an underdog almost every game, especially on the road.......and the underdog story of the first month.....
They are improved, but i still see them as an outsider for the playoffs by the end of the season, they are a nice story, but theres money to be made betting agasinst this team, if they finish 81-81 it will be a monumental step in this franchises recent history.....Mathematically it means a TEAM PLAYING .666 basedball 20-11 has a fair amount of losing to do if I truly belive they are a .500 team or worst
1. It shocks me how bad Shoemaker looks, last season did not seem like an anomaly, but he was a back end rotation guy, maybe he just got lucky facing other teams garbage pitchers, but he still wasnt getting hit like this. He either isnt special, or hes arm tired.....either way, he is a stay away for me ...........Not betting shoemaker as a favorite in the near future
2. Keuchel is hittable vs the right team with right approach, angels had them loaded with 2 runs in and bases loaded, a shitty up the middle DP killed that rally, and game coulda gone way different. No one had scored more than 2 on keuchel yet this year, i think giving up 3 in first inning maybe more woulda done some different things to pitch count, outlook, pitch calling,, defensive alignment etc......
4. dont bet an angels game thinking this is the same Pujols, he simply isnt , and in most cases you would rather have CJ cron in there swinging the bat. if u get anythting from pujols in an angels play, be happy, u are above the averages
Teams with Right handed hitters and high on base % lefties will fare well against him in future. I expect to see at least his totals play over in these situations, even if i cant back the other team.
so if u r not like me and when u lose, u tear up the ticket, move on, and flush the situation out of your mind, good for u, i simply cant do that.
If you are like me, there is something to take away from every loss, and i like to text, or email myself notes or observations. I realize losing is part of this game, and as long as i can live with my losses, the outcomes are justifiable.....
After all, yesterday in my largest win in last 10 years, i got a 0 out triple play that went 4-5-4 with runners on 2nd and 3rd to escape a bad situation. Id be foolish to only see the bad luck in my plays and not the good. MLB.com says that 4-5-4 triple play has never happened in the nearly 130 years they have been playing baseball.
