Anyone recommend any good brand of Glutamine to take? Started a bulking phase of my workout and find I am sore as hell. Read where drinking lots or water & Glutamine assist in muscle recovery. Should I use powder with my protein shake or use capulets. Thanks for the help.

I agree with Tk. Just add some of the powder with your protein drink and you should be straight right after your workout. You can get the capsules but you may be paying a tad more for the convienience.
As far as brands I havent found any better than any other.

I've taken the pills in the past. But if you are already using shakes, I suggest the powder so that you dont forget to take pills

I take the powder form from Fitness Labs.

The benefits of glutamine are excellent including like you mentioned muscle recovery but in addition it's an amazing immune system booster.

I take 15-20 grams a day, but only because I've got an intense training schedule 6 days a week.

Take Isopure protein

Comes with glutamine mixed in and is one of the purest proteins on the market. . . . Also, 50gs of protein per serving.

Stoner,

Glutamine helps strictly with muscle recovery.

A lot of things like protein shakes, among other things, have some glutamine mixed in.

There are other products that will help with muscle recovery and also supplement other things as well.

For example, GAKIC (developed by UF :drink: ), decreases the flow of fatigue toxins to your muscles. It indirectly helps in recovery, like Glutamine, but also allows you to keep pumping out more reps, or higher weight at the gym - similiar to creatine. In fact, most studies show a 15-20% increase in strength first time taking it. That means no loading stage or anything like that, it kicks in immediately.

NO-EXPLODE also indirectly helps in recovery. By dilating your arteries, it carries more blood to the area you are breaking down. The more blood in the area, the more oxygen, nutrients, etc that are being sent there. Those are vital to building muscle quicker, and recovering.

So basically, Glutamine is a very very very basic supplement that can be taken. But other things will also do the trick, and add other benefits as well.

There is some very good advice given here on the subject. The thing that i have learned about this and creatine is that the loading phase is a myth. Creatine states that you need to load up for 5 days beforing settling in on a daily regiment but in reality your body can only handle 10 grams at the most. The rest is crapped out. You don't need to load...just start taking the recommanded daily allowance and work hard.

the above post is true

when creatine first came out, they were saying you had to load

you no longer have to do this, and i just used it as an example :toast:

I use five grams of powder before nad after working out. That and some no-explode does the trick for a great 45-60 minute intense lifting session.
