All I know is down here in Mississippi it is fucking cold. Was cold last winter, was a relatively mild (instead of scorching) summer, and is already dipping into the 20s at night.

The first 10 years I lived down here I dont remember it making it into the 20s but maybe a handful of times, and only being November it is UNUSUALLY cold.

Where does last winter rank globally on the temperature scale?

The Ice age people have some points as do the people defending global warming. Ill meet you half way on something i dont know exactly but at the top of my head as the ice caps melt, they will obviously produce fresh water runoffs. As this fresh water mixes with the salty warmer water it starts to drop the temp and starts to push back against the global conveyor, the movement of water that brings warm air/water from the equator north, to the northern hemisphere. As it pushes it back the temp inland gets cooler and cooler thus eventually creating an ice age. Im not saying that is what is going to happen or how true it is, but it ties both arguments together.

According to the scientific community, the earth has always been going through periods of global warming and global cooling.

The cooling periods last approximately 70,000 years, while the warming period lasts approximately 20,000 years. We are presently in the 17,000 year of global warming.

How accurate are they? who knows, but it seems like some prehistoric creatures became fossilized and extinct. I do believe there have been periods of cooling and warming, but things can and do change.

We are going through climate change, always have been, always will be (God willing). It's probably prudent for man to try to minimize damage and prepare for the future. But it's a waste of time for man made Gorebull warmists to politicize their silly cause, lets deal with the fact that climate change is not man made, and go from there.

Seems that the people that I hear arguing the strongest against Al Gore are the ones driving the biggest vehicles.

How is the suburban running Willie?

When I left my house this morning, I turned on every light, let the car run for an hour (its cold in ATL) and turned my heat on 85 degrees. Not worried about my bills, I work, I can afford them. The earth is warming and man isn't the cause.

Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In reality thou, even if your a neocon or a Regan Republican you should at least agree with half the shit i say because fiscal conservatism is my mantra, its probably my ultra liberal social stances that dont jive with you. In any event, same to you as well, and i hope you have a holly jolly Christmas.

I was watching something on tv once about global warming and there was a poll of the worlds scientist and in the mid 90's 60% though global warming was man made and a couple years ago over 90% agreed global warming was man made.

And the other big piece of evidence that global warming is man made is the leading scientist that says global warming is not man made guess where he gets his funding from thats right oil companys so thats should sum it up right there.

But all of the scientists that say global warming is man made get their funding through producing papers that say it is man made.

Why libs can't see it as the same thing is frustrating to say the least.

remember the petition that was "Signed" by thousands of scientists about the global warming myth. The guy who started the petition and pushing the idea was heavily invested in Coal power plants...if he came out and said Global Climate change was even partly due to man's involvement he would have cost himself $$$$

So you are saying all scientists who work on public funds were told what the result of their studies had to be? That all the universities, probably due to pressure from the governments, had violated the freedom of science by dictating to the scientists about their findings? And that all those scientists, many of them true idealists, had not dared to report this interference?

I do agree that it might be prudent to be wary of reports ordered and paid for by environmental organisations, but to imply that all scientists who support (man-made) global warming are only acting in their own interest is absolute nonsense.

Guys..I used to work for a pharma company. Trust me when I say these studies can be slanted to say basically whatever they want. It is not always the results that are tainted, it is the Primary and/or secondary endpoints..and exactly the methods they are using to tabulate the results.

It is not hard to use different methods to get different results. J

Just think about a game you had handicapped exactly the way the numbers pointed. Next you read a post someone has supporting the other side. Both arguments are valid, both have stats to back them up. It just depends on how you want the results to read.
