Massive contract... can't believe they actually resigned him after having to listen to the freakin' idiots on ESPN suggest that this was "Liverpool's mighty captain"s last game in Liverpool red. Wonder how long this marriage will last though, knowing that he could have gone to a team with a better chance of competing domestically, and knowing that Liverpool didn't exactly "earn" a Champion's League spot this year through typical means. But with a healthy Cisse for the season, Barros, Risse, and now Gerrard returning, there's zero excuse for Liverpool not to finish 4th once again in the Premiership and at least make a decent run into the knockout stages of the Champion's League.
Mark: Side note here... Liverpool got an extra spot in the Champion's League and screwed out some Czech side. But who's replacing Liverpool in the UEFA Cup? I would have imagined it to be Newcastle (left one spot under UEFA status), but they are playing in the Intertoto. Or did they just "relegate" (for lack of a better term) the Czech side screwed in the Champion's League to the UEFA?
