Schalke- Wolfsburg: Schalke -0.5,-1 @ 1.80 and over 2.5,2.75 @ 1.89 !! 2 units!!Both teams have started with two wins after the winter break. Schalke 4-1 vs. Stuttgart and 3-2 at Dortmund, while Wolfsburg won at Bielefeld 1-0 and vs. Duisburg 2-1. They also face each other in a cup match 3 weeks ago at Wolfsburg where Wolfsburg won after penalties. Game was 1-1 after regulation with a injury time equalizer of Wolfsburg, after Schalke had dominated the whole game.Schalke is missing Jones in midfield with suspension, while Wolfsburg is missing Dzego with a cold. Both should not really be a problem.Schalke won the last 3 games at home and is pushing hard toward the top of the league. They welcome Kuranyi back on offense after suspension, which should give them additional fire power. Although Wolfsburg won the first two matches it was still “only” against bottom teams. They have not won against any of the 8 teams above them in the standings so far. If you look at Wolfsburg this might be really a trend…it s a team which definitely able to play offensive football, which makes them stronger than the bottom teams, but just not disciplined enough on defense to go with the big teams.9 of last 10 Wolfsburg games have seen at least 3 goals and 15 of 19 overall. In most cases both teams are on the board. This combined with the late over trend from Schalke (3-2,4-1,2-1,2-2) makes the over a nice play. Schalke will definitely have lots of scoring chance as the always have at home, especially with Wolfsburg not expected to play defense only. The Schalke side is only of value at -0.75 as I like them to win, but I am not sure if it will be by 2 goals, considering that I expect Wolfsburg to score as well.

Jena- Köln: Köln pk,-0.5 @ 1.85Both teams off an disappointing start in the year, but Köln at least played better at Aachen. Besides that it s still a hugh mismatch between the teams and Köln is desperate for the win to stay in promotion race. Coach Daum will give them the right motivation talk during the week, to get back focused and bouncing back with a nice win. I expect a much better defensive efford from them as in last games, which makes 1 goal maybe already a winner…and nobody can contend Köln offense in this league

Koblenz- St.Pauli under 2.5 @ 1.80After 4 draws and 6 unbeaten matches Koblenz finally lost last weekend. They are still struggling as they unbeaten streak was mainly with draws. Only tendency here is that they play low scoring games.6 of last 7 games have seen 2 or less goals with three 0-0 involved.St.Pauli plays similar defensive especially in away games. 4 of last 5 away games stayed under the number too. It s a very open and tight game and I expect not much scoring

Thanks for the plays. With reference to Schalke, how do you see them against Porto in Champions League. I am leaning heavily on the portuguese side to settle the first leg with a strong possibility for a draw.

to be honest i havent looked at it at all, especially i havent looked at Porto at all, but from my head i would expect something low scoring in both matches. beware that Schalke is a dangerous away team..it sometime suits them even better when they can play on counter attack..but no prediction so far..let s wait till beginning of the week

a nice 3-1 friday with the big play hitting...onto saturday

1. Bundesliga

Duisburg- Stuttgart: Duisburg pk,+0.5 @ 2.05

Duisburg in last place lost 1-2 at Wolfsburg and 3-3 at home to Dortmund (which they should have won)..they are simply not a good team, but if they have any chance of performing well it s at home, where they normally give team a run for the money. Stuttgart is in a big,big struggle. They lost 1-4 at Schalke and 1-3 at home to Berlin after an already very disappointing first half of season. Lot of negative vibes currently in Stuttgart. The coach thinks about completely changing the set-up of the team stressing a more defensive orientated strategy. They are missing Ossorio and delPierre (defense) with suspension.
I don’t think they can get an away win here with Duisburg playing better lately especially at home and being more desperate. Stuttgart is in no realistic danger with relegation, but after the two losses has basically give up any hope to get UEFA-Spots..therfore big lack of motivation , which makes it difficult to get out of an crisis.

Bremen- Nürnberg: Bremen -1,-1.5 @ 1.85 !! 2 units!!

Bremen plays in Bundesliga without suspended Nalso and Borowski…after their disappointing home loss to Bochum they are back on track with the draw at München and the 3-0 Uefa win on Wednesday. They are a strong home power. Nürnberg is still struggling big time. They fired the coach on Monday after two disappointing results and now vanHeesen (former Bielefeld coach) is in charge. They played yesterday night (very late) at Benfica and lost 0-1 in a solid game. But Bremen is a different calibre. Big problem for them is also that they are playing on only 1 day of rest (big discussion about this in Germany currently) and it was a very late game at Lisboa. They are also not used to play these kind of "English weeks" as Bremen is. In addition with some general injury problems this is not a good set up for them at all.
History is also not good as Bremen won the last 5 home games vs. Nürnberg.

that s all for today.

big play hitting on saturday.

let s see what sunday brings:

Sunday
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
2.Bundesliga

Freiburg- Augsburg: Augsburg +0.5 @ 1.93

Freiburg was one of the top teams going for promotion in first half of season, but is hitting a big slump right now going winless in 7 games with 5 draws. They play OK, but suddently cant put teams away.
Augsburg is a typical mid-table team, not going for promotion , but to ggod for relegation. Suddenly they are on a 4 game win-streak.
Not sure if this keeps on, but those two trends alone makes a +0.5 a nice play

Fürth - Kaiserslautern: Fürth –0.5 @ 1.80

This line might seem strange. Fürth is currently running hot being in 2nd place and coming off a big 2-1 win at top-team Mainz. They have started the year with 2 wins.
Kaiserlautern meanwhile is struggeling big time being in relegation zone. Year did start ok with a surprise draw at leader Gladbach, but followed by a home loss to München. After that they fired the coach…so the new-coach factor is in here.
Fürth has some injury problems on defense, but Kaiserslautern has still two players suspended with red card. I am thinking why the line is not –1 (what it should be) and only reason I see is the new coach and because of the fact the Kaiserslautern is a former german top team, everybody expects them to turn it around sooner or later. Maybe they get another surprise draw here, but I have to go with the great value for the superior team at home

Offenbach- Aachen: over 2.5 @1.85 !! 2 units!!

Side is not predictable here, but Offenbach last games were 2-2,3-3,2-1,1-3..that s a clear over trend and especially with both teams scoring every game, which I always like.
Aachen on the other hand played the last 5 games: 0-3,2-2,0-0,3-2,3-2.
Besides the one scoreless draw all recent games were also well over the number..so another 2-1,1-2 should be up here.

Paderborn- Osnabrück: Paderborn pk,–0.5 @ 1.85 and over 2.5 @ 2.01

I wrote a lot last week abut Paderborn s new attitude with the new coach and I am riding the over train here again. Not as strong as last time, cause I am not too sure about Osnabrück which played two unders so far this year. But Osnabrück s coach called out his team after Sunday s 0-2 home loss (the first home loss since end of 2006 !!) that they have to be more aggressive and don’t wait for the other team and just react..that could mean they play with some kind of offensive attitude even in this away game.
On the side it s also again the new-coach factor which works great so far for Paderborn. I am bit careful, because Osnabrück might be up for a bounce back and Paderborn is still in last place, but the team has new hope since last week and another home win would be a big push
Osnabrück has Heidrich suspended with red card and missing two more players with cold,

Hamburg- Bochum: no play

Line is currently at -1, which let me lean to Bochum. Hamburg had two draws so far , but as expected got back on track yesterday with a 3-1 away win at Zurich.
But Bochum plays also well this year, coming off a 2-1 upset at Bremen followed by a 3-3 vs. Cottbus. In addition they have not lost since 2000 at Hamburg. These kind of trends are always valid in Bundesliga. At least they show it will be a close game.
Big news during the week was injury from van der Vaart during the Zurich match. He will be out for at least 2 weeks, which is a hugh blow for Hamburg. Hamburg IS van der Vaart…without him they are just a very mediocre team. Also Atouba is out as he is suspended team-internal after reporting back late from Africa Cup without givinbg notice.

Hannover- München: Hannover +0.5,+1 @ 1.90

Hannover playing solid, but having two draws so far. But they are strong at home and will be hyped for the München game. München as expected had also vs. Aberdeen yesterday problems without Ribery. He will be missing on Sunday again. They just have no creativity in midfield and not enough scoring chances without him. So they cannot put teams away. The rest of the team is always still able to win here, but 0.75 is quite a bit and the value is clearly with Hannover (they will not loose by 2 goals). Hannover usually plays high scoring, but München is a away-under team, so for now I am staying away of the total.
