have always been confused as to where they align in the sec pecking order. Always a wannabe!

Uga has a decent decade in the 80's and they feel as if they are in the sec elite. They are 3rd best (history, tradition, wins) in there on division, only ahead of S.Carolina, Vandy, and Kentucky (all football powerhouses, let me tell you).

3rd best referring to national championships, tradition, ect....

With Alabama and LSU leading the West, it makes them the 6th best program in the sec, yet UGA finds act as if they are something that they are not.

Good comparison would be Ole Miss. Program won in the late 50's and early 60's, but that is it.

UGa, you are not what you think you are!

Seriously....

This doesn't even merit a response, but just real quick...Comparing UGA to Ole Miss is laughable. Let's also not forget that Florida's football program was nothing before the late 1980s, so if you are comparing "tradition, history and wins", then you obviously don't think college football existed prior to that.

I could go on and on, and no, I am not saying UGA football is Alabama football, but this is one of the dumbest comments I have seen in a while. :ohno:

Tradition is code for "We used to be good". Who gives a rats ass about what happened 40 or 50 years ago?

:)<<

Bama people LIVE in the past. Most people listen to the talk from their fathers and act like they were part of the tradition. :):)

(before responding to this with something retarded: note that i used the word MOST)

Again, UGA fans do not get it. Florida's recent past is far more history than you have buried in the DAWG past. A run in the 80's is all you can hold onto.

So who should UGA go before?
Alabama, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, I think not.

UGA past is on par with Ole Miss past. Unless you want to look recently.

UGA is what it is. The top dawg in the "second tier" of the SEC.

Arky wins this weekend!

Alabama last had a national championship in 1992.
Georgia? 198?

Even Ga Tech lays claim to one more recently than the DUDS, I mean Dawgs!

Despite living in Atlanta and rooting for Georgia Tech I think UGA is an elite program over the last 30 years which is what we have to go buy, Bill Snyder at Kansas State (the team I like the most) changed so-called tradition because prior to his arrival K-State was the first team in football history to lose 500 games, the last 25-30 years is a great measuring stick of a program, Army used to dominate in football over 50 years ago and now they are losing to Duke

You guys saying "Mallet is a joke" are idiots!! Guy is for real and if any of the 2 teams has a qb that is a joke, it would have to be Georgia...I have been on Arky since before the season started and this team is GOOD...Georgia on the other hand....Not so much!

ARKY -1 (or whatever it is)

No way in hell Georgia's crappy offense keeps up with this team!

We are speaking of the SEC. Second tier.

GTech should know something about the SEC. GTech and the great Bobby Dodd, which I truly believe, made a fatal error years ago that has cost them dearly since then.

DIdnt even know the game is in ARKY...if your not betting on ARKY then dont bet at all!! ARKANSAS BIG!!!!!

I would have to say that Georgia Tech is doing pretty good for themselves right now

but you are right purple GTECH had the last national championship in football and not Georgia, they claim it was a split title, but everyone knows Colorado got 5 downs on the goal line against Missouri to keep their record in tact, Thus, in my mind GTECH won it by themselves

I hate to do it but I agree with the UGA haters in this thread....I went to UGA..graduated last may...and been following the sport for a while

It does feel that way to me...and I always thought I was the only one who felt it....we can never break into that "elite" category no matter what...we have been somewhere between very good and great but never reaching that greatness that we should have

hell if we can't do it with Stafford and Moreno who the hell can we do it with...

I feel like we recruit the talent....but it just doesn't translate on the field sometimes...is that the coaches? coordinators? the players? who knows

All I know is we are supposed to be a "Great powerhouse"...but we don't play like one

I can watch the games and see...you don't have to dig deep into numbers...you can see the florida team play and you know even as a UGA player that the florida team is GREAT...

almost 30 years and no championship for a "powerhouse" is embarassing

we have been stuck in this zone for a while now I don't know what we can do to break out of it but I'm sick of rooting for them every year only to disappoint me

We have never been and aren't in the leagues of the USC, Notre Dame, Texas, Florida, LSU, hell even ohio state

Michigan was stuck in that zone for awhile, but they broke out of it in the late 90's, only a matter of time TopDawg, I thought in the David Greene/David Pollack years they had a legitimate chance , even more than the Stafford/Moreno years

Here's the thing that I think will make the difference on Saturday....Ryan Mallett is about as slow as you can get from a QB's perspective. He's got 0, and I mean 0 ability to be mobile which i really think will play into UGA's favor.

Having heard from a Michigan beat writer about Mallett, the one thing he said was that Mallett is prone to bad decision-making. UGA gets their best pass rusher back in Justin Houston this week which will allow UGA to get more pressure from the DE's.

I really don't have a great sense of how this game will go, but there are some things that are favorable for UGA in this one that people aren't talking about.

first, mallett may be slow but he's 30 lbs lighter than last year, which will make a difference in his escapability. on top of that, someone said SC got after you underneath in quick passes. well, ark has a TE in DJ Williams that is much better than anything SC has for an outlet.
second, your michigan beat writer is commenting on mallett from his freshman year, i'm sure. that was two years ago - i doubt he's been in fayetteville worrying about mallett's progress...also, how was your decision making between 18 and 20 years old???
finally, having houston back is a nice addition, but it's his first game back. is he in game shape? maybe...
just some thoughts....

Lets be honest here, Georgia should of played (and won) the national championship in 2007. It was last week of season...Georgia was #3, won last 7 games while all other top teams were losing in final weeks...#1 and #2 both lost. But since Georgia didnt get to go to the SECC game because of a tiebreaker, LSU went from #7 to #2 (therefore leaving UGA out of the title game when) with a win over a crappy Tennessee team.

Instead Georgia got to beat the crap out of undefeated Hawaii :ohno: instead of getting to beat Ohio State.

its ok, been here long time and have never seen purple people dude before. dont think hes done any picking before...aside from his ass...

No second tier sec team would be getting consistent top 10 recruiting classes for the past decade plus. he constantly makes uneducated statements which bring nothing to the table.

i think this game is a pass for sure... everyone was sure syracuse was gonna be the worst team in D1 football before they played...turns out they covered and arent nearly the worst team. nobody has seen arkansas play a D1 team yet but are willing to bet big money on the game. not a good idea...
