Chip Kelly is not going to win in the NFL but he can coach at the college level.

I'd go after him hard if I were Georgia, USC or S. Carolina.

Think he goes to S. Cal, IF it his year to drop the NFL from the resume. Smart and Herman would be great hires at Georgia and SC, and they're the top 2 candidates at both for a reason. Herman silenced the critics earlier in the week saying he was focused on the Houston Conference Championship game, which they just won, instead of the Coaching job at SC, but look for it to come up in discussion now. IF he beats out Smart somehow for the Georgia job, does Kirby stay at Bama in waiting still, or does he opt for the SC job, which is his if he wants it. Or vice versa, does Herman come to SC if/when he gets beat out for the Georgia job by Smart? I would, and I would welcome either of the two to either program...

Just thinking of the big time money that's about to be tossed around gives me the shakes.

Think that Miami job is pretty good. Also, the UCF opening is underrated as well.

Miami job is good...but it's not top 10-20 like UGA and USC. Miami does not have an on campus stadium. They do not have the athletic budget to pay assistants (and the head job maxes out around $3 million, which is a nice income...but a great coach can get 33% or more than that at a better program. Hell, Houston offered $3 million to keep Herman!). They also play home games in front of around 20,000 (or less) fans for the average game....then when FSU or another big program comes to town, half the stadium is pulling for the other team. And "great" coach that goes to Miami will leave (for the NFL or another big time program). Miami is a good job....just not great.

UCF? That's laughable. It's a great job for a 1AA coach to move up to D1 or a "hot" assistant to cut his teeth and move on. O'Leary was perfect there because he was old and damaged goods....it was his last stop. So, maybe a Richt or Mack Brown type? (but Richt could probably land a better job). They are looking at UF's DC right now (Collins....they also interviewed UF's Co-DC, Randy Shannon), among others.

Yeah, don't agree with you. UCF is a very good job. Hot bed for recruits.

UCF is a very nice school and nice campus and it is in the state of Florida so tons of elite recruits are within a couple hundred miles. And they will get literally zero of those elite recruits since they play 4th fiddle to UF (which is an hour and change away) FSU and Miami.

Agree. It's a stepping stone job...or a retirement job for an old codger like O'Leary (trying to hang around longer than he should). No stud coach is going there and staying. A great job for an up-and-comer to prove his worth until one of the big boys comes calling.
