We usually only hold em on poker night, but every once in a while we will play dealers choice. THat is what we had always done before this year, we have forgot a lot of our good ones, but here are a couple of my favs. Anybody got any to add?

ROYAL CHICAGO

A 7 card stud game, the winner must win 2 out of 3 "events"(for lack of a better term) Low spade in the hole, high spade in the hole, best hand. If a person folds, they are out, they dont get back in for the next hand. This game can get big as its tough for someone to win 2. we play 25 cent ante and we have had over $100 in this pot before.

BLACKJACK POKER

i am sure others have played this, but I made this one up myself. Seven card stud game. The first 2 cards which are down are your blackjack hand. btw it is a split pot(blackjack hand, best hand) and your last card can also be in your blackjack hand, if you dont want to "hit your blackjack hand, you must pay double ante to have your last card up.

3-5-7

It's a guts type game where all players participate. The object of the game is to accumulate 3 markers. In order to win a marker you must win a hand unchallenged. Here we go:

1) The game is played in sets of 3 rounds: a 3 card round, a 5 card round, and a 7 card round.
2) Each player is initially dealt 3 cards. In this round 3s are wild. (no 3 card straights or flushes. high card, pairs, and 3 of a kind only.)
3) Each player examines his cards and places a chip in his hand if he wishes to play. When everyone is set, count 1-2-3 and each player opens his hand.
4) If there is only one player with a chip in his hand, he gets a marker (object of the game to get 3).
5) When there is more than one player, those players who have a chip in their hands exchange cards and the winner is determined. Remember, only the guys who have a chip in their get to see each others cards.
6) All players hold onto their cards for the next round.
7) The winner takes the pot and the losers each place an amount equal to the amount won into the new pot.
8) The dealer then deals two additional cards to each player.
9) In the 5 card round, 5s are wild and 3s are longer wild.
10) Repeat steps 3-8 above.
11) In the 7 card round, 7s are wild and 3s and 5s are no longer wild.
12) Repeat steps 3-5 and 7.
13) Everyone tosses in their cards and the deck is shufffled and you start the process again.
14) Once again, winner is person who goes unchallenged 3 times. As you can guess, the pots will be quite large and when the person wins his 3 marker he takes down the final pot.

Notes:
- The pots can get huge. We usually start with a buck ante to get the pot going.
- The game can last a while particularly if you dont have many gamblers in the group.
- The key is to remember the other guys cards when you do try to take a pot. One one hand, some guy may have 3,6,6 in the 3 card round and will win it since he has 3 sixes. In the 5 card round you know he ONLY has 2 sixes with 2 cards to come since the 3 is no longer wild. On the other hand, you may have some guy with 5,5,5 in the 3 card round where we will win with 3 fives. He will have AT LEAST 4 of a kind in the 5 card round since 5s are wild.
- You can adjust the number of markers required to win down to 2 to make the game go faster and keep the pots a little smaller.
- If you and your group play like little girls you can also place a cap on the amount a player can lose while trying to win a marker. Sometimes we do this on the fly if things get too crazy and make the max loss like $50 per guy on any given round regardless of the pot size.

JOKER - If a player is dealt 3-5-7 in ANY 3 card round, the game ends and he takes the pot.

It's a sweet game that requires a little luck, tons of bluffing and a decent memory for what you opponents are playing.

2-3 Guts - That's what I call it anyway.

Each player gets 2 cards. After looking at the cards each player holds them out face down and when the dealer counts to 3 you drop your cards to get out or you hold your cards to stay in. If you stay in and lose to another person, the loser matches the pot. The game is over when only one person stays in and beats to cards drawn from the deck.

Hand hierarchy

Best hand is 2-3 of any suit. Never had a tie so do what ever you want if that happens.
next best AA
next best KK

and so on. No flushs or straights. Just high card and pairs.

Four-Fourty Four
we play this game but the pots do get unusally large so if you play this game bring lots of money.
1) Ante up on a clear pot or to start.(however much you play for)
2) Each player is dealt 4 cards(4 are wild)
3) The best hand is four 4's there is no straights or flushes. You try to get 2,3 or 4 of a kind.
4) The 1st player dealt to has the option of staying in or folding and it goes all the way back to the dealer.
5) Each player that stays in has the option of drawing but he may draw 0, 2 or 4 cards. There is no drawing 1 or 3 cards.
6) If 2 or more people stay in they play against each other with the winner receiving the pot. The loser(or losers if more than 2 people) have to match the pot.
7) You make think this benefits the dealer by going last but if a player is left in by themselves they have to play the top 4 cards from the deck. If they lose they match the pot.
8) There is no raising on your hand you are either in or out.

This game gets the pot very big so either play for quarters or play with people with a lot of available cash b/c I've seen pots in the thousands with 4 people playing $5 ante.

Great topic, and hope this gets more posts. Here's one "non-poker" game we play

PASS THE TRASH (aka SH!T ON YOUR NEIGHBOR)

To start, everyone makes three stacks of coins in front of them. We usually play $1 stacks, but you can make it more or less depending on what your betting levels are. Usually we have an ante also.

The game is simple: Everyone gets one card, and the person with the lowest card loses one of their "stacks". King is high, and ace is low. When your three stacks are gone, you are out, and the pot goes to the last remaining player with any stacks left.

HOW TO PLAY: The dealer deals one card to each player. Play starts with the player on the left of the dealer. He can either decide to keep his card, or trade it with the player to his left. The player on his left MUST trade it with him. Play continues on, with each player allowed to trade with the person on his left. When it gets to the dealer, he can either keep his card or discard it and take the next card off the deck. After the dealer decides, everyone flips their cards, and the player holding the lowest ranking card (A=low) must throw one of his coin stacks into the pot.

The are three other rules:

1. Any king ends the round. If any player has a King, he calls it before any trading takes place and everyone must immediately flip thier cards - the game stops immediately. No trading is allowed for the round, and the person who was dealt the lowest card throws in.

2. Any Queen is "the stopper". If you have a Queen, no one can steal it. This means that if you have a Queen, and the person to your right tries to steal your card by trading with you, they are not allowed. It's also called the "bird" because traditionally you "flip them the bird" when they try to steal your card.

3. If, when all the cards are flipped, two people are tied for the lowest hand, neither of them has to throw in. They are saved, and the NEXT lowest hand must throw in.

SUMMARY OF THESE RULES
1. King stops the game immediately
2. Queen cannot be stolen
3. If you pair up, you cannot lose.

The game continues on until only one person has any money left in front of him, and that person takes the pot.

This game has a huge advantage to the person who has first choice, and a big disadvantage to the dealer, since he is always stuck with the "trash".

Hopefully I explained it well. Sounds complicated, but actually very simple, fun to play, and a good game to mix it up during poker night.

Here's one more

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

Each player is dealt 5 cards. The dealer then deals out one row of 5 cards face down, called "the good", another row of 5 cards face down, called "the bad" and a single face down card called "the ugly". Each player looks at his 5 card hand and there is a first round of betting. Normal poker rules apply.

After the first round of betting, the dealer flips one of the "good" cards and one of the "bad" cards. Good cards can be used as "community cards" as part of your hand. However, if you have a card in your hand that matches the value of one of the "bad" cards, you must discard it immediately. A round of betting goes, and then another good and bad card are flipped, followed by a round of betting. This continues until all of the good and bad cards are flipped.

Finally, after all the other cards are flipped and the last round of betting has happened, the dealer flips the "ugly" card. If this card's value matches any of the cards in your hand, you must fold immediately. Remaining players bet one last time and person with the highest poker hand takes the pot. All the "good" cards, as well as the cards in the players hand can be used to make the final 5 card hand.

drunkguy-

you are right good thread. we call "pass the trash"..."f*ck your neighbor." i pretty much hate the game and will virtually donate my stacks to the pot and get a few drinks and bs while everyone else plays since it's primarily luck. the only time i enjoy it is near the end of the night and i'm loaded and want to have a little fun without thinking too much about odds and figuring out what cards my opponents have and what hand i have.

here's another game my 2nd favorite non-poker game after 3-5-7...copied from a previous post

7/27 aka Seven-Twenty-Seven

another great gambling game....object of the split pot game is to get closest to 7 and 27. Some similarities to blackjack. Aces = 1 or 11, Face Cards = .5 (1/2), Rest of Deck = Face Value. Each person is dealt 1 down card and 1 up card then a round of betting. Each person is asked in order whether or not they want a "hit" which is placed face up. The hitting and betting continues until everyone has decided to stop taking cards or folds.

As you can guess, it gets crazy because you have some players going for low and some players going for high with people betting and bluffing all over the place. the perfect hand is 5AA = 7 and 27. the game is crazier when you add the two jokers and have them equal to a positive or negative 1 or 11.

can you imagine 6-7 drunk friends trying to add their cards as well as their opponents' and then a joker comes up?!?!?!? i've seen +$100 pots where the joker comes up and someone immediately folds because they say that they are too drunk to understand what it really means to their chances of winning so its easier to fold and have another beer. great fun!!

We play 727 all the time, I think we may start it out though with 2 down, 1 up. Not sure, I never deal it. We also play if you get 11 cards and are at 27 or under you take the whole pot. Happens rarily. We also play Redeye 727, only red cards count, that can get expensive.
