ANALYSIS: Note that this is for Friday -- not sure if I will play tonight's game. I am jumping this early because the ML seems low with Cleveland starting Hunter Gaddis against former AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray (won with the Jays in 2021). Normally, this would be the spot for the very good Triston McKenzie for the Guards, but he's hurt. Gaddis made two spot starts last year for Cleveland, his first two big-league appearances, and allowed 15 runs, 15 hits and seven homers in just 7.1 innings. I mean, I could do that. Ray probably isn't winning another Cy Young but was quite solid last year and better at home (3.02 ERA). He didn't allow a run in 13 innings vs. Cleveland.

ANALYSIS: I'm not about to make any declarations after one game, but pretty clearly Miami blows chunks offensively again this year. New addition Luis Arraez did his part in Thursday's loss to the Mets with two hits, but the Marlins only had five total. While David Peterson on Friday is a step down from facing Max Scherzer on Thursday for the Marlins, Peterson was dominant this spring in allowing just one hit and no runs over 12 innings. He has a 2.74 ERA in 23 career innings vs. Miami. The Marlins' Jesus Luzardo can be quite good but had a 6.75 ERA in nine innings last year vs. the Mets. I may come back and play the total tomorrow when I see lineups.

ANALYSIS: Everything that could go wrong for Houston on Thursday did go wrong for Houston on Thursday. Four measly hits, two errors and gave up two runs in the top of the 9th to lose it. This team is too talented to do that again and especially at home. That said, let's play it a little differently. Instead of laying 65+ cents of juice on the ML we're going to play the Over 7.5. In four wins over Chicago last season the Astros scored a total of 41 runs compared to only five runs total in their three losses to the White Sox. This should align for us nicely because when Houston wins they win big, plus we also get the added insurance of Chicago's runs too. Mash city.
